Jim's has been an iconic restaurant in the Bloomington/Normal area for a very long time. It has never been updated, and that fact adds to the nostalgic charm of the place. It has a supper club feel to it. The tables have table cloths and a fresh candle on them.
The service has been fairly consistent over the years, being pretty good, as the food is typically pretty good as well.
They have a really nice piano bar with good bartenders, we typically try to arrive early and have a couple of drinks before our reservation.
The place can be pretty busy on the weekend so I would recommend reservations. The floor plan is multi level and is not ADA compliant. We like the the place and definitely recommend it.
Jim's is so great for a fancy night out. The fish dishes are always well cooked and seasoned. We always get the calamari!
Probably the best steak I have eaten anywhere on the east coast!! Don’t pass this place up you are missing out
You could not ask for better service. Our waitress was a true professional and seemed to really enjoy her job. We were a table of 8 and everyone was very happy with their meal. My steak was perfect and reminded me that I need more practice on the grill at home.
Food portions are big, their special salad dressing was delicious.
Atmosphere was "old classy" kinda feel. Loved it.
Great service!
This was our second time here. It's graduation weekend so they were very busy tonight but the staff handled it gracefully. Everything was delicious. The calamari comes with a Sweet Thai Chili sauce which is different than most places in town. The garlic bread comes with thick cut slices of bread and it's baked perfectly. I had the Salmon with shrimp and a lobster cream sauce with rice pilaf. It was good but a little pricey at $32 in my opinion. It came with 3 medium sized shrimp. Over all great experience and we need to work Jim's into our regular rotation of restaurants. One thing I will note is that their flatware seems a bit low quality for a fine dining restaurant.
I had an amazing time at Jim's Steak House. The steaks were incredibly tender and flavorful, cooked to perfection. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, and the staff was friendly and attentive. A definite go-to spot for anyone craving a delicious, satisfying meal.
A friend recommended this place while we were in Bloomington. One of the Sunday night specials is pan fried chicken. I love me some good chicken, and this was some of the best I've had in ages. Got it with a baked potato (perfectly cooked, but only ate a couple bites). So, I believe most of their veggies are fresh, but the green beans they have with the fried chicken special are canned. These were GREAT green beans, like the homemade canned ones my grandmother used to make. Full of flavor and bacon, don't be deceived by the looks! My wife had the salmon on cedar plank and it was great. We'll definitely go again, especially on Sunday night. We sat at the bar, and Mary Jo took great care of us!

Best stake house in Bloomington/Normal, without a doubt! I have dinned here multiple times, it never disappoints. The cuts are excellent and grilled to a precise point.
The ambience is cozy, relaxing and proper for a high end steakhouse.
The service is fine, attentive and friendly. Alexis did a great job and made sure to check on how things were going through out the experience.
They have also a nice bar and occasionally live piano music.
This is the place to celebrate a special occasions, anniversaries, romantic dinners, or just to chill out and have a nice evening .
Highly recommend it if you are looking for the best steakhouse in the area!
Forboding on the outside, pricey and delicious on the inside. I'd have rated it 5 stars except we weren't greeted at the side entrance when we arrived, the maitre'd wasn't wearing a mask once we tracked him down, and the washroom (see below). All the other wait staff were wearing a mask, however.
Once seated, the service was great. Our waitress was attentive without being intrusive. Our coffee was kept warmed.
The ambiance is dark wood with large paintings and crystal chandeliers. No windows. Fancy hunting lodge without dead animals?
They were strangely skimpy on the rolls and butter. Also the choice was soup or salad, but for the price you should get both.
I ordered the ribeye done medium. It arrived freshly cooked and done exactly right. The meat was trimmed well with enough fat that if you like fat it is there but easy to remove if not (what's wrong with you?).
My beautiful wife got the steak kabobs. They were served on rice. The steak was like prime rib and nowhere near as flavorful as my ribeye. Her rice was too salty.
The washrooms need a complete makeover. Only a little better than some gas stations I've been to.
