Very fun and relaxing environment and the young lady that manages Poor Billy's gave me some of the best service, best tasting drinks and good conversation I've had in a long time. Hands down hey 180 degree difference in service and quality then the last time I was there are you okay so looks like you're moving in the right direction. We will be back again

Great bar, mixed drinks were cheap. No cover. The upstairs was a little too crowded for me. Too many people it was a little hard to move around. The upstairs men's bathroom is primarily for people who want to pee. If you need to do anything other than pee, you might want to find another toilet since the toilet doesn't have any door surrounding it and is next to the urinals. The pool table is a nice feature here.

Pretty divey bar but what else do you expect. The place is normally packed and you have to squeeze by people to get to the bar or the bathroom. It is nice they finally put a privacy door inside the bathroom so when the main bathroom door is open, you aren't exposing yourself to the rest of the bar. Go here if you are or plan to be really drunk and you'll fit right in.

It is impossible to get the bartenders' attention. I'm surprised that the bouncers aren't in jail because my friends and I have noticed how they are often very relaxed and have double standards while checking IDs. If you're wearing letters it seems like you can get drinks regardless of your age. The bathrooms are the worst I've ever seen.

Really poor service beer out of a can in a plastic cup. I know this is a college town but really. Food looks like it was an after thought mixed drinks are watered down but that helps since all the liquor is cheap stuff. Drinks are over priced for what you get and pay attention to what they charge you may end up paying for a few extra drinks if you open a tab. I would recommend any other bar/restaurant in town.

Listed business hours on Google are incorrect. Listed business hours on Big Al's website are incorrect. Phone is off the hook (literally. Busy signal at all times. No answering machine. I am assuming so they do not have to advertise their neblus hours.) 2 pool tables with one set of balls containing 5 number 5 balls. 3 cue sticks for entire premises. Food is good. Well shots are cheap.

My friends and I (group of about 15) came to VA for a fraternity conference, from all over the world (VA, NC, GA, FL, PA, etc.). The bouncers would check one form of ID for some out-of-state people and then require two forms of ID for the other friends due to the high amount of "fake" IDs they see. One friend had a FL ID and got in without a problem with one form, the other had a FL ID also but they would not let her in without another form of ID. They wouldn't give us a reason why they thought the ID was fake and made us call the cops to prove the ID was real (which it was). The manager seems to be nice but didn't resolve the situation or care to. The bouncers on the other hand were complete jerks and clearly discriminating with no reason. I will NEVER take my business back to them. They were NOT nice people and it's no wonder there were so few people there. Do yourself a favor and take your business over to TOTS!

Horrible treatment by one of the employees, he went by Peaches. I had gone there sober and had one drink with friends, went to grab my jacket and phone that I had been standing next to in the back all night and found Peaches going through all my jacket pockets and holding my phone. I said excuse me may I have my things back and he returned the jacket and phone, I checked my pockets to ensure my cash was still there, $25, found it to be missing and asked him for it back, as I had been standing next to my jacket sober all night to watch it. He denied taking it but I am concerned as to why an employee feels the need to pick up and search a customer's belongings and find it highly suspect that he was going through my belongings when my money was stolen. Through the entire situation and conversation Peaches was excessively rude.
