Himalayan Curry Cafe

Oh my goodness!! This is fast food! Took about a minute from order to receiving the food. I got the spicy curry chicken. I hesitate in the color of the curry when I opened the container. The color isn't as yellow as I had expected, but the taste is so good, especially for fast food, but it's not spicy at all. The restroom is pretty clean. I asked for salt since one if the reviews mentioned the dish she ordered needed salt. The young lady at the counter gave me an orange color sauce... lost in translation 🤣. I am glad that she did misunderstood me. The sauce is spicy!! I love it!! I don't know when I will be back here, but I would eat here often if I was closer!! One of my girls loves the chicken.

Unfortunately, I ordered chicken biryani (chicken prepared in sauce with onions, tomatoes, etc with rice.) to be delivered. What I just had delivered was a big container of beef in rice. Considering a lot of people who eat here can't have beef, this was disappointing. Thankfully I can eat beef but this would have been inedible to a lot of Hindus. Also as far as the beef goes, it's still disappointing. Its a lot of big knobby bones and cartilage. No vegetables or onions, and definitely not worth the cost. The photos are to show the container, beef, and my the order I had placed. Hopefully this was a fluke!

If you’ve never experienced a curry from HCC, whether it’s late after a night downtown or in the library, or in my case, driving two hours round trip to bring my wife her favourite dinner and lunch tomorrow (we live in Roanoke but are only there a few weeks out of the year), then you’re honestly just doing yourself a major disservice. I was here the day they opened in 2012 and it has become such a comfort food for us ever since - as if we were right back in Scotland stumbling home surrounded by friends all of us with dripping containers piled high with so much sauce that none of us need worry about a hangover in the morning. And did I mention just how friendly they always are? Even hooked me up with reusable containers so I don’t spill half of this feast on the way home. Pics to come, I’ve got driving to do.
