I try to stop here on my way down to Phoenix every trip, buying slices ONLY TO GO from the gift shop and eating it in my car, otherwise you will be WAITING... learned this my first visit, when I planned for a slice of pie after eating lunch at the diner counter. TOOK FOREVER, although the giftshop counter seemed to take a little less forever on my second visit, but the incredible homemade pie makes up for it. When a place is known for its pie, stick to ordering pie, lesson learned. Perhaps the diner is lucrative, but if the staff can't keep up to cause so many bad service reviews, it would make more sense to be a poshy piebar (like a vineyard winebar) specializing in JUST pie, ice cream, pie-shakes, and pastries. Their sticky buns look incredible!! On my visit I counted 15 pie flavors: Cream, Fruit, and Seasonal. I truly wish they offered tartlet flights of Pick 5 for $15 cause its hard to justify $5 slices when I want to try them all!!! So far, all outstanding, I've tried the Coconut Cream, Banana Cream, Southern Lemon Curd, and Rhubarb. I'm set on trying Choc Cream next. I'm still bent on the price per slice, but to a distinguished palette, the taste is apparent in both the crust texture & taste but as well as the filling consistency. I was surprised Fruit & Seasonal pies didn't include Whipped Cream unless requested, so wasn't sure if complimentary or charged, but I wasn't going to find out as the slice price's already hard to chew. Maybe if it were a poshy piebar ;) wink, wink. Would give 5*stars but consistently horrible SLOW service,

Passing thru. I finally stopped at this cafe after seeing for years on my trips to Flagstaff. Their standard burger lunch was good, but I had no room for their famous pies. I'll have to do that next time. Quick and very friendly service. See my photos.

Go for the pie, stay for the food!. I had seen the Rock Springs Cafe & Saloon on the Learning Channel a couple of years ago and I knew once I made it out to the Phoenix area I would stop by. I was glad I finally went on a recent trip to the Grand Canyon.

For lunch, I had Ma's BBQ Meat Loaf Sandwich with a side of homemade mashed potatoes. This was a great sandwich! The meat loaf had been smoked with a drizzle of BBQ sauce, cheese and bacon to top it off. You can't get more homemade than the mashed potatoes that I was served. Excellent food and a great price.

Of course I had pie and today it was the Blueberry Crumb Pie. It was great served warmed with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream. It appears we have to order a pie from them and have it sent over ASAP!

Dee-lish!!! I had the Tom's Mixed Greens Salad with grilled salmon, followed by a slice of Tennessee Lemon pie. Hubby had the Meatloaf platter, followed by a slice of Jack Daniels Pecan pie!! So good we had to take home a couple of slices of Strawberry Crumb pie for Easter tomorrow!! All that food for less than $40.00! We will be back!!!

Pie!!!!. Don't come for the service...don't come for the ambiance or cleanliness...don't come for the other food. Come for the pie. Jack Daniel's Pecan is divine. Lemon cream is outstanding. Rhubarb is top-notch. there's no other reason to stop here and if you're driving by you need to stop here. It's all about the pie.

Rock Springs Cafe Offers Authentic Food. My wife and I visited the Rocky Spring Café only once (to date), on the way home from a weekend stay in Sedona, and we were very happy with the meal we chose. We had the Hand Shredded Pork Sandwich and the Two Gun Chili, and my wife and I both agree, they were really, really good! The pulled pork was very tender and had great flavor, and the homemade chili was thick and hearty with a ton of flavor as well. We would definitely recommend the Rock Spring Café.

Home cookin', great pies. This is a great place to stop if you're traveling on I-17 north from (or to) Phoenix. Sorry for the cliche, but it's down home country cookin', with fried chicken, taters and all that sort of thing just the way it ought to be. Not a lot of this type of place in Phoenix. And the pies are outstanding. Make sure you don't let the wife shop for trinkets or you'll be there an extra half hour.

This place is just adorable! Our son had heard about and recommend to us. We were Not disappointed. From the atmosphere, decor, service, food, and all the little extras - pie, candy, salsa, ice cream, fudge, taffy… absolutely wonderful. Our server, Sharon, went above and beyond with her beautiful smile, recommendations, and appreciation for my husbands military service - even offering military discount! Prices are reasonable, food is all from scratch. Just great!!!

This is a great place to stop on your road trip. The food is delicious, the service is excellent, and there are shops where you can buy souvenirs and other cool stuff. Don't miss it! And don't forget to take a walk down the river below. It's beautiful!

Randomly pulled off the highway to explore and happened upon this spot. It was early morning, and I pulled in just because it looked to be open. Very pleasant surprise! A little conglomerate of businesses including the Cafe, a farmers market, gem shop, gas station, and my personal favorite- The Pie Box. Behind all of this is a pleasant outdoor garden/ nature spot that is open for relaxing, walking the dog, and checking out a little steam and waterfall. The Pie Box has a seating area inside with large windows that open up to the outside. I imagine if I lived here I would enjoy a Pie breakfast and coffee too frequently. The bakers were busy and the place smelled amazing! Good selection of freshly made pies... too many to mention. Got a slice of peach which was delicious and not too sweet. Cool spot that is family oriented and a good spot to stretch your legs or just relax and have a treat.

How did I miss this place? I've driven by many, many times and always notice the sign for pie. I love pie. I think I have reminded myself many times that I should stop by there next time I'm passing through. I'm kicking myself for not stopping EVERY time I've passed through. The building was fantastic! So many things to look at. I loved the little Christmas area upstairs. We went to the cafe and ordered some pie. The server was so nice! We'd come back just for her. The pie was so good! I think we got a Tennessee Lemon and Strawberry Rhubarb. They were both fantastic. We also ordered some ice waters. We both commented that the ice water was some of the best water we've had in a long time. I saw the filtration system in the way to the bathroom and took a picture of it. I want one! Also, the bathroom... It was crazy! The urinals were beer kegs, there were license plates all over the walls and the sink faucets were some kind of Steampunk contraption. Pretty cool! On our way out, we noticed a little garden off to the side. We walked through and it just kept going. It's a whole event venue. There was so much space! there were multiple levels with drink stations and a waterfall and trees and plants everywhere. It was very impressive. There wasn't an event happening so we were just wandering around to look at stuff. We will definitely be back. We have like 20 more pie flavors to try.

Loved it ❤️ went to spend time with my grandparents and my mother. The place is a cute, warm place for family 👪 ❤️ 💙 💕 and friends. They have a 2nd floor called the "Christmas floor" 🎄 everything is all Christmas. They also sell ice cream, jams, sauce, and jewelry 😋 👌 😍 . The restaurant was good service 👌 the blueberry was appetizing, and customer service was great 👍 👌. They are very welcoming.

Let me just preface this by saying that I am not a pie person. I don’t normally like fruit pie, or cream pie, I do enjoy a pumpkin or a sweet potato pie, but that’s normally the extent. My boyfriend and I stopped here after visiting Chilleens, because he was raving about the pie. When we went in there were quite a few pies on the menu, but not pumpkin or sweet potato (it was the middle of summer) so I went with apple. When I tell you that this was the best damn apple pie I’ve ever had in my life… holy… anytime we pass this place from now on, it is my mission to stop in and try a different pie. I feel like they make our how pie is supposed to be made. I’m definitely still not a pie person, unless it’s a rock springs pie.

Rock Springs Café is a historic restaurant in Black Canyon City, Arizona, that has been serving homestyle cooking since 1918. It is known for its delicious pies, made from scratch using fresh ingredients. The café also has a wide variety of other dishes on the menu, including steaks, chicken, and sandwiches. The restaurant is located in a charming old building with a rustic charm. There are two dining rooms, one with a fireplace and one with a view of the mountains. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the service is always excellent. I've driven by Rock Springs Café many times before, but I never stopped. I always regret it, because the food is always delicious and the atmosphere is so welcoming. I finally decided to stop in one day, and I was not disappointed. I started with a slice of the pecan pie, which was absolutely amazing. The crust was flaky and buttery, and the filling was rich and flavorful. For my main course, I had the chicken fried steak, which was cooked perfectly and served with mashed potatoes and gravy. The vegetables were also fresh and delicious. Overall, I had a wonderful dining experience at Rock Springs Café. The food was excellent, the service was great, and the atmosphere was charming. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious meal in a historic setting. I would definitely give it a 9 out of 10. Here are some additional details about Rock Springs Café: Location: 35900 S Old Black Canyon Hwy, Black Canyon City, AZ 85324 Hours: Open daily from 7am to 8pm Price range $$ Parking: There is a large parking lot next to the restaurant. The restaurant has a gift shop that sells souvenirs, including Rock Springs Café-branded pies. I would definitely recommend visiting Rock Springs Café during the farmers market. The farmers market is held every Saturday from 8am to 12pm, and it is a great place to find fresh produce, locally made crafts, and other unique items. The café also has a booth at the farmers market, where you can buy pies and other pastries. I'm so glad that I finally stopped at Rock Springs Café. It is a hidden gem in Arizona, and I'm sure I'll be back many times in the future. Here are some additional thoughts The portions are generous, so you're sure to leave feeling full. The prices are reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a meal. The staff is friendly and attentive, and they're always happy to make recommendations. Overall, I highly recommend Rock Springs Café to anyone looking for a delicious meal in a charming setting. I would definitely give it a 9 out of 10.

What a great spot. Met my daughter at this half way spot between the east valley and flagstaff for breakfast. Service is what stood out the most. The menu was weird though. Many of the options had an up charge for usually included items like eggs. Beyond that the food was very tasty and large portions if that’s important to you. I had biscuits and gravy which was super good. My daughter and I split it and added sides of eggs and bacon. After breakfast we roamed around the property and enjoy the Beauty. Stopped by the pie hole for a pie to take home which also was delish. A fun place for sure.

Well wasn't there for the world famous pies rock springs is known for! But a vehicle fire in front of me that just happened I was in the right place to help a tow truck driver on I 17 extinguish a vehicle fire, with a larger extinguisher, this is what happens when you tow a front wheel drive vehicle the wrong way, transmission is spinning with out lubricant got so hot it caught the transmission on 🔥 just need to replace My extinguisher 😆 Molly the wounder dog and her faithful companion me saves the day aging 😄 😊 all in a days work for a disabled veteran still serving his community and doing the right thing the driver was was pretty shook up, but after a similar experience last year on the beeline highway I watched a semi tractor trailer 40 ft with a non proficient driver out of Chicago come down from Payson overheat his breaks stop and set in the cab till the breaks bursts into flames continued to set there till I crossed the median and ran over to him ,he said to me what do I do what do I do! I said get you fire extinguisher out and I stopped a tanker trailer driver and got his fire extinguisher but buy that time the back of the truck and front of the trailer was fully engulfed and the small extinguishers and the lack of help buy the driver and the slow moving tanker driver I'm sure I could have saved that 150,000 dollar truck let alone the the load that was lost and the time and effort for the debree to get cleaned up and the inconvenience of the south bound lanes closed for hours, luckily no one was injured, just the drivers pride! Luckily after I saw it was beyond stopping I had the driver get his personal stuff out of the cab before the whole enchilada burnt to the ground I mean toast! So that's why I carry a large extinguisher, stay safe out there!!
