A bunch of us ate here late one night after seeing a show downtown. Our Server was Lydia D who was super nice and explained their menu to us. I had a hankering for a delicious desert and Lydia suggested the Peanut Butter Pyramid. Oh my goodness, every bite was better than the next. So ever loving good!!! My husband had the Tavern Burger with Bacon and their homemade potato chips. He enjoyed his meal quite thoroughly especially the freshly made chips. Lydia D. was super attentive despite a huge crowd arriving with us. We all had a great meal here.
Excellent food, great service, accommodating and friendly. Been several times and food has always been spot on. The girlfriend loves the food also, so I get my sports fix and a great meal regularly

Food was delish. I had the Reuben with Tavern chips. Nice beer selection & decent beer prices. I will def be back to try it again. My only complaint is... we went to watch the Alabama game. The place is huge & there are TV's everywhere but the TV's are not that big in relation to how far away they are from some of the tables & booths. The place was packed so every table was full with a wait list. We got there early but it is hard to pick a table to sit at without knowing what TV's they are going to be showing what football games & there is no chance to move once the place fills up. Many of the TVs were showing tennis... tennis? during prime football games in the state of Alabama??Basically if you are there to watch sports & you get lucky enough to get seated close to a TV that happens to be showing what you want you will be a happy camper but... I don't think I would enjoy it so much if I am seated 20'+ away from the nearest TV showing the AL game. We shall see. I plan to go back & see how it pans out :o)

I really dig this place. The food is great, the atmosphere is big and loud like any good sports bar should be, and a large beer selection. Service is hit or miss, mostly hits, but that's damn near anywhere.
Very large dining room, decent prices, and decent food. I ordered the California chicken sandwich, which was awesome but the chicken was very tough. My boyfriend ordered the shrimp n grits which was delicious and a pretty big portion too. The strawberry marg on the drink menu was pretty tasty to me however my waiter said it often gets sent back. Service was ok. Would stop by if I was in the area but probably won't go back otherwise!
I don't understand the bad rating and harsh reviews. It's got a great beer selection, great atmosphere, great music, and the food is fine. If you are looking for a gourmet meal then don't eat at hickory tavern, but this place
Met all of my expectations. I had dinner here and then liked it enough to eat lunch here again today since I was staying at the courtyard across the street. Service has also been excellent.
Judging by the two major Sports Bar food groups of nachos and wings, this new place did ok. With cold beer and a zillion TV's what can go wrong?
