Big Sur Bakery

Great coffee shop! Everything in Big Sur is expensive but this place is more reasonable actually. We went Sunday AM around 10... very busy!! But it was worth the wait! We had an iced latte with honey and a hot mocha. They have non dairy milks as well! The best part was the location, patio, outdoor seating.. Beautiful gardens and atmosphere. Art show outside, restrooms available as well. Also great treats!! we had the cheddar scone and mocha cookie... very delicious, especially the scone! I would recommend you stop here on your way in/out of Big Sur and Highway 1.

Delicious bakery! Absolutely a must stop. Their pastries are all delicious - would say this is one of the top 10 croissants I have had. Heads up they don't have much other than pastries so not a full on brunch spot pending what you are looking for. Coffee is also good. Also not a lot of gluten free options so be aware.

Hippie, rustic cafe tucked alongside the woods of Big Sur. Small but delicious menu. The yogurt dish was beautiful and delicious. Crunchy granola, plum sauce, spearmint leaves, kumquat and citrus. Every bite was exciting! The doughnut filled with creme patisserie was divine - perfectly filled treat to end the meal. Staff are extremely friendly. Beautiful outdoor seating.

The really must-go bakery when you’re in Big Sur! Highlights of the menu: 1. Cream filled donut 2. Pumpkin soup 3. Hot chocolate 4. Allagash white beer, Belgium This is a very well-known bakery in Big Sur that is famous for their pizza and bakeries. I tried the cream filled donut and really like it. It’s soft and filled fully with the silky soft cream! This place has been here for a very long time and is a great spot to stop by when driving by Big Sur. The pumpkin soup is so delicious when the weather is a little cool. They offer drinks from coffee, hot chocolate to beers. I was so lucky to met Miley Cyrus here!!! I love her songs and truly am a fan girl. She was so humble and nice to take pic with me when I asked. I was so excited I couldn’t stop smiling. I met her when she casually picked up drinks at the pick up window. I still can’t believe how I recognized her with the mask on and had the gut to ask! This made my day!! The only downside: there was no pizza at the time I went which is one of their most well-known items. I would love to come back next time to try it!

We stopped for dinner one weekend evening. Two of us shared a salad and duck breast entree plus we each had our own desserts. We found everything to be very tasty! Service was prompt and friendly. They do take reservations. The menu was somewhat limited and is supposedly based on what is seasonal from their local suppliers. Don't be afraid to ask about items/ingredients on the menu that you're not familiar with! For example I did not know that Porcini was a type of mushroom. Our server was very helpful in explaining.

I made my first visit to Big Sur Bakery, but it won't be my last. Their website indicated the bakery opens at 9:00 am, however I arrived before 9:00 am and there was already a long line which moved somewhat slowly. It was worth the wait. I got a couple savory items (ham & cheese croissant and veggie strudel) and a couple sweet treats (blueberry strudel and a chocolate mocha cookie) plus a cappuccino.

Came on a Weds around noon, healthy line of people ordering and eating outside. Line took 15 min as there was 6 people or so in front. Ordered some delicious snacks such as the nut bag, chocolate crossaint, double chocolate cookie (very rich!!), raisan Danish, and a chocolate cookie pouch. All were pretty good but loaded with sugar. Parking maybe a little tight but overall a great location near many establishments. Very amicable staff.
