Benny's Tacos

Their food was fresh made, tastey, and over priced. Some how for an adult and two kids meals the bill was $45. Most Mexican restaurants include chips and salsa with the meal, but I don't mind a nominal charge, $4.50 for 1 bowl of chips seems extreme. As I looked through the bill it became clear that the food was about 30% more expensive than comparable restaurants. All this and their suggested tip was 20% as I'm ordering from a counter. After all that I was positive at least the portions would be large, I was mistaken.

I don't come here except when I have work over this way. When I am in the neighborhood I always be sure to swing by Benny's and get my mexican food fix. Everyone I bring here always raves about th speed and quality or this place. I would highly recommend Benny's If you are in the area. I have gone back several times and will continue to in the future can't recommend them enough!

TL;DR: They stole an extra tip, the food is generally good, but the value might not be there. Last time I was there the sales platform (or internet) was having issues and my card was charged twice. I was refunded in cash for one of the transactions. Later they added a tip to that charge which shouldn't have been there (and that tip didn't match the one I left on the receipt I filled out, so they just arbitrarily added a $3 tip on a charge that never should have existed in the first place). I had left the change from the cash as an additional tip too. Overall, they took $3 dollars from me that shouldn't have. I didn't challenge the charge with my credit card because if they need $3 that bad then fine, but I won't be back because of it. This is a rare situation because of the extra charge, but that doesn't mean that adding their own tip and hoping it will go unnoticed is appropriate. Despite any of the above, I like the street tacos. I have had the carne asada and barbacoa. They are both good. The guacamole is good. The regular salsa is fine. The hot salsa is ok, but nowhere near as hot as the man at the counter suggested. He was adamant that it was too hot for me and it certainly wasn't (it came off pretty rude). From a food perspective, I don't think many will be disappointed. From a value perspective I think it is somewhat questionable.

Came in for my husband and my 6 month anniversary and wow everything we ordered was delicious. Chips and salsa were perfect. Tamale was not dry and flavorful. Chicken enchiladas were wonderful and the rice and beans were so flavorful as well. The Barbacoa tacos were freaking awesome, their tortillas are incredible. Will be coming in more!
