Folks, Vegi Food is closing after all these years! May 24th, 2013 is their last day! They've lost their lease.
The food has been awesome. We've (friends and I) brought up our kids going to this place and it feels like the end of an era.
The vibe is spare, Buddhist. The food is all vegan. I'd call it Chinese comfort food. And very affordable!
But the service is awesome and full of the owner, Mai's personality! She remembers all her customers and what they like to eat. For years she remembers you! Berkeley is losing a gem, a piece of history. It's too bad Mai couldn't find an affordable place to move her restaurant.
Now's your chance, before they close their doors for good. A very sad day it will be, when Vegi Food is no more.

Very helpful and attentive staff. Pure veg, no garlic or onion either and...they are willing to alter any menu item due to your specifications. Good prices, too. The pan fried noodles are to die for. We will certainly go again, maybe today.
