Used to come here all the time for lunch back when I was a student. The sandwiches here are an affordable and tasty way to fill you up until dinner time. The convenient location is a huge plus, right next to campus and many apartment complexes in the area.
The staff here is really friendly and very obliging when it comes to customizing your order. The cafe is pretty small, not much room to sit without blocking everyone in line. I'd definitely recommend getting a sandwich to go and eating it on Memorial Glade.
My favorite here is the turkey avocado on a croissant. The texture of the toasted croissant is amazing and the ingredients in the sandwich are all fresh and super tasty.
After coming here once, I guarantee you will become a regular.

Yes, yes, YES! Beautiful, fresh, healthy, affordable food! I had the tuna sandwich & watermelon juice. It was the BEST meal I had on my trip to California.

This is one of my favorite sandwich options near Etchverry Hall. Many choices of bread and toppings, all prepared freshly. My favorite is definitely the roast beef. It is not a massive sandwich but has a lot of meat, and 6.30$ is a much better price for value than Subway.

Great sandwiches made with fresh ingredients. They order fresh stuff every day, so get there early if you want a specific bread or sandwich filling because they might run out. Mostly a lunch spot, closes early.
The owner is super friendly, although he's a bit curt if you are rude to him. Either way, the sandwich will be great.

What a lovely place to enjoy a meal. The community here is colorful and so is the food, making the people watching and cafe experience evermore exciting.

Let me just say this: on a slightly hungover morning, there is NOTHING that beats a fantastic "original" asiago bagel from the Hummingbird Cafe, which includes cream cheese spread with dill, tomato, cucumber, and sprouts. And the kicker? It's only $2.75.<br/><br/>It's a friendly, cozy place, and though I haven't tried most of the menu as of yet, I am eager to do so. The owner is extremely friendly and chats you up, which I really appreciate--he hands out samples of new dishes he's perfecting, and you really get the idea that he's in it because he truly loves what he does. Shockingly that seems a bit rare in Berkeley, where everything is so goal-oriented rather than being focused instead on the journey itself. It's cash-only, FYI.
