Charkoal Portuguese Grill is conveniently located at the Berkley Heights train station. This first visit for takeout proved to be really good experience. I ordered the Garlic Shrimp, which came with Rice & French Fries. The rice tasted freshly made and was plentiful; the Garlic Shrimp was well seasoned and the aroma alone made me eager to taste. Once I got home with my order I couldn’t wait to dive in. The food was still hot and ready for me to devour. I enjoyed the meal immensely, but could have done without the fries because as always, when fries are covered in an aluminum pan, they lose their crispness; other than that, everything was great; I will most definitely go back & try other menu items.

I never leave bad reviews, but this time i just had to. I’ve been trying portuguese restaurants all over, and without a doubt this is THE WORST! food i ever tried $38 burnt steak, 0 refunds they sent me a dessert spilled and it was just half of it completely scammed by this restaurant please try other place if you don’t want to lose your money and have a disgusting experience 0 stars if i could

Ordered over the phone, they told me the pick up was in 20 minutes. After waiting for another 15 minutes in the store (35-40 minutes total) I got the food. I don’t mind waiting if they are busy but there was absolutely no one in the store. The chicken was super dry, the french fries were so dry , the mixed veggies were awful. I don’t usually make reviews , but this was a very bad experience.
