Found this gem while on a road trip. I am a coffee addict, one of my favorite things to do is find local coffee houses and Vermont is one of the best places to do that. On our way back I was scrolling through the buzz feed news app and found the post "25 coffee shops in America to visit before you die" and that's how we found South Street. The atmosphere was great, we walk in to a gentleman playing guitar and singing, a diverse age of people hanging around, some doing work. The service we got was friendly and laid back. The coffee was the real star though, I don't know if it was the excitement of visiting a place I found on an app news site, the fun environment, or the thrill I get when exploring a new town but the coffee was incredible. We ordered hot maple lattes with an extra shot and the man behind the counter knew what he was doing. Long story short definitely worth the trip through Bennington.
The combination of the Food, the friendly laid back employees and the overall atmosphere make this place great. Their live music events are always worth going to!.
It is a really nice coffee shop with a great ambience. A high ceiling space and brick wall. I ordered Ice Caffee lattee, it was great. My friend ordered an Expresso which was also great. The service was great, and the guy / the owner was friendly. They had a live music too. It is a really nice place to have a cool coffee break in rhe muddle of the day.
#vibes ; just a normal lil cafe from the outside but really nice chill feel inside. High ceiling, exposed brick, nice menu selection. Average cafe prices and even less expensive hot beverages. Iced dirty chai was delightful! They also have a wooden chess and checker set that is great :)
Love it here!. I love the SSC! It has such a comfortable atmosphere and nice people and the baked goods and beverages are awesome! they also have free wireless internet access witch i love and they also have performaces too. such a spot to visit in bennington!
Our Headquarters in Bennington. Our family is in Bennington every summer for vacation. For the past few years our headquarters has been the South Street Cafe. All six or more of us can relax inside looking at the artwork or sitting outside by the tables watching the world go by. You even may get to visit and talk with James King one of my favorite journal makers. The coffees are only outdone by the hospitality.
Excellent coffee and lovely pecan pie. We stopped off whilst traveling around on our last day of our holiday. The staff were really lovely and there was a good choice of cakes, sandwiches and other various things to eat. A must stop for anyone who enjoys a nice place to chill and have great coffee and food.
My favorite thing about this Cafe is the live music! I've discovered several wonderful new musicians here. The food is great, too! Love it here ❤️
Really nice place to sit and read a while. There are comfortable chairs, as well as tables for doing serious work. Nice selection of pastries.
We love to stop here whenever we come through Bennington.
Be sure to admire the ceiling. The tin ceiling tiles are really neat! It's like stepping back in time.
Great local meeting place with hot and cold beverages, sandwiches, baked goods, and daily soup and quiche. Check outside live performances and spend a few hours catching up with friends.
Loved this cafe! Excellent non-hipster coffee in a laid back atmosphere. If I lived in the area, this would definitely be my hangout.
Pride 🌈 friendly Absolutely love their coffee!
The cheese on my sandwich was so incredibly delicious -- creamy and sharp all at the same time. The sourdough was perfect. Great fresh-brewed iced tea. Awesome employees, great historical building. I loved my visit!
Stopped by while I was trying to kill time before an interview. The coffee was amazing, the customer service fantastic, and the options for treats were perfect. They have vegan treats and treats that are gluten free, along with "normal" treats. Everything was great and I can't wait to go back.
I've been waiting for a while to try this place, my opportunity came today. I was not disappointed, got a French vanilla cappuccino which was an actual cappuccino instead of the fake stuff you find anywhere, along with a little breakfast treat. Had outdoor seating which was a big plus, and live music which was very welcoming. I hope to return again soon to try any of their many choices.
I was ecstatic to find this little gem! They are very well-versed in the art of coffee and tea, offering copious amounts of choices in styles, add-on's, etc. The Matcha latte I ordered was absolutely decadent and fairly priced! I didn't dare hope to find such a lovely, well-run cafe, with such a vast selection. I can't wait to get back to try out the rest of their menu!
