El Torito

First time for me having their food as I'm not from around here. They cooked for a party we had for about 100. The food was all great. We're a big mostly Mexican family and everyone thought the food was great. Hard to get that much food cooked and pulled together yet have it all taste fresh. We were very happy with them.

Worst experience ever, service to start was terrible. Ordered drinks took 15 minutes, had to go to counter and retrieve menu's on our own. Took over an hour for 4 plates of food. I ordered steak, overcooked and was sliced up and down which tells me they have no idea how to cook steak. Best meal was my son's chicken kids meal burrito until we heated up the leftover and he bit into nothing but tendon. Enjoy if you can I give this place a negative 5 but it's not an option

What a wonderful find! My daughter and I were out and about enjoying ourselves and got a sudden craving for Mexican. We stumbled upon Taqueria El Torito and I'm so glad we did! (Must note, when we arrived there were only 2 other tables occupied, but by the time we left, 40 minutes later, the place was hopping! And at an odd eating time, 2:30ish, and I was so glad, because I want them to get ALL the business). Our waitress was so very nice. Chips and salsa came to the table when she greeted us. They were very yummy. I even ordered guacamole, which was ridiculously tasty, and queso for extra dipping. I had enchiladas and my daughter had a quesadilla the size of her plate! Both were fantastic!! The cost was extremely reasonable. The chef called to us, as we were paying at the counter, thanking us, and I couldn't help myself from gushing to him about how wonderful the meal was. He adorably responded, "Good, then we'll see you tomorrow." I love a chef with quick wit. We will without a doubt make this our go-to in Belvidere when we want to fill our Mexican cravings. They even have Mexican gum packs at the counter, as a courtesy, which my daughter happily grabbed one to take home to daddy. And we were so elated with our experience, we bought a few World's Finest Chocolate bars before we departed. Thanks for the wonderful hospitality!

This is a good Mexican food restaurant, you can find an acceptable variaty of mexican food. Although not everything is cooked as a 100% genuine mexican dish. I would recommend to go on weekends they serve special mexican food (Like pozole and Menudo). Also you can get mexican soda that has a very nice flavour. The chicken fajitas and the Al Pastor burrito are my favourites.
