I've eaten here multiple times, and every time it has been fantastic. The food is some of the best Mexican food I've ever eaten in my life and I'm a Mexican from California. The rice and beans are top notch and the tamales are excellent, combo #5 is what I always get. The service is great as they are attentive but not overly so, and the soda cups are huge so you never have to worry about constant refills. I always eat as much as I possibly can because the food is so good and I don't live nearby anymore so I have to pack it in while I can.
If you love Mexican food and you're in the area, you absolutely have to check this place out. Delicious, cheap, and quick, what more could anyone ask for?
Alfonzo has taken great care of our family and our co-workers from WWU. They offer lunch discounts and great meeting places. Believe it or not, I have made connections for the better that changed our families future, and it is just a warm, friendly, affordable atmosphere with great service and people that become your friends. We love it! The kids love it too! They always accommodate the crazy and wild children from the age of 6 on up! They bring them light and free deserts at the end and split the root beer, so we are not too over run with sugar kids on the way home. Our family loves it on both ends. The girls go there with their mom - and they go there with their bonus mom! We have had a lovely family gathering there with over 20 people and great luncheons with staff that multiply - and always accommodate us! Great place and great for our families budget!
Could be the Casa de Stuffed Sopapilla...... I enjoy eating here, but they need to serve a Stuffed Sopapilla.
My friend decided to take me here to celebrate my birthday. It was my first time at El Agave and I loved it. Friendly service with great food. I ordered a fajita burrito and the plate was filled with flavor and spices. The steak was delicious. When my friend and I were done with our meal, they surprised us with dessert! (deep fried ice cream). Whenever I crave a burrito, I'll definitely come back.
Pleasantly Surprised!. I have eaten here a few times and really loved it. There salsa is tasty and authentic. I absolutely LOVE the Spinach Enchiladas. They always come out super fresh stuffed with spinach, mushrooms and jack cheese. My kids loved the Fajitas. I ordered a Michaelada (Mexican beer with tomato & spices) Not the best I have had but still good. The service was excellent. I will definately be back!
Great Place, Very Nice Employees. I have gone to El Agave a handful of times and have always enjoyed my experience. The employees are exceptional, super friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to go the extra step to make my dining experience a positive one. Large menu. Large portions. Delicious food. Prices are reasonable. Two Thumbs Up! Will definitely keep heading back for more.
Very good Mexican food. This is my favorite Mexican place in town. As a vegetarian I appreciate that there is more than just a salad or maybe a bean burrito on the menu. They have a sizeable vetegarian section, but my favorite is the spinach enchiladas, very good! (If only I could get them to include tofu, sigh) The service was excellent, I never had to worry about an empty glass or running out of salsa and chips. I'd eat here once a week if i could afford to.

Yummy!. I have eaten here more than a handful of times, I frequent Milagros, Pepper Sisters, El Gitano and El Agave. All are very different. What I love about El Agave most is the friendly service and consistant food. Try the shredded beef in anything or anything with verde sauce!! The guacamole is great and we eat here once a month or more. Nice senior and student discounts with ID and offer Facebook specials all the time!
Very Nice Meal. My first and only meal so far at El Agave was very good. I would say that as of this writing it is the best Mexican food in Belllingham. I tried their chicken en mole which is one of my favorite Mexican dishes and it was very good. The rice and beans that accompanied it were also good. It came with a side of your choice of either corn or flour tortillas. I chose the corn. They were store-bought tortillas which was disappointing but predictable. The interior of the restaurant is a made-over former fast food joint and it look like it. I attempted to order in Spansh but the waiter would not bite though he was a Spanish speaker. Go for the food. You won't be disappointed, but don't expect great things.
Good Food. We have not been to the restaurant yet, but they catered a event we went to and the food was great. Nice big fresh pieces of shredded chicken and great guacamole. Can't wait to try the restaurant and see what else they have to offer.
I really want to like this place. I have given it a try 3 times and everytime they have brought someone else's food to our table. I do like the margaritas alot but last night they messed up by giving me a margarita that tasted like pina colada and I sent it back and the replacement had the taste of cranberry in it. Yes, if they can get it right they'll be a great restaurant but for now its a work in progress.
Great all around. Went last night with some friends. The portions were huge, affordable, and the customer service was great. Overall you just can't go wrong with El Agave. My now current favorite Mexican restaurant in greater Bellingham area. If you're not sure what to order because the selection is overwhelming, go with the Deluxe Burrito, it will blow your mind, and fill your stomach.
Typical family Mexican restaurant, but it’s the servers that make it worth coming back to. Tacos were perfect, and when there was a mistake, they corrected it with a smile. My servers were Alfonso and his son, also Alfonso, and they were a hoot! One star knocked off for the chili con queso dip. Obviously premade from a can/box. With the quality of the other food, they could easily make something better from scratch. Other than that, I love this place.
Of all the Mexican places I've eaten at over my 60 years, this is by far my favorite. Alfonso is the best. He really cares & wants you to have the best experience possible.
There was more food than I could eat for dinner & breakfast the next day.

Can I say more Alfonso and his son are the heart and character of this amazing restaurant I travel the country monthly and never in my life have a I found a more enjoyable Mexican restaurant from NEW Mexico across the rest of the states and even in Chihuahua and Tijuana in Baja California I have not found a place with food or servers I have enjoyed more. If you do not eat here I have pity on you because you will never have better food or better service than you do here. Trust me on this and go eat be merry and enjoy the amazing service at this once in a lifetime eatery
Thank you so much for the super service and food that you gave the Bainbridge Island Sailing Team while in Bellingham! We had a very complicated order with several special dietary needs. You managed to beautifully accommodate all the requests and prepare delicious lunches for over 30 sailors and parents. You also took special care to make sure you understood our order, label each with names, and gave very generous portions!! Thank you again Alfonso and Marin! We will be back!
Great place to grab lunch. Food always comes out quickly and there's complementary chips and salsa while you wait. Staff is always super friendly and helpful.
Great experience here today. We were welcomed at the door and the service was very attentive and friendly. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the food and was great at conversation. We are value people, and this is the perfect for us. We both got lots of food for a very reasonable price. It tasted great. The chips and salsa are excellent and we were happy to get it. We will be back for sure.
