Probably the best meal we had during the 3 days we were in Bedford. I ordered a Crab Cake Benedict that was really good. My wife had scrambled eggs, bacon potatoes and pancakes that were cooked to perfection. This is a small "girly" cafe in the historic downtown area that serves ample portions to satisfy a hungry guy. The atmosphere and music were relaxing, the service was attentive and we ended up buying about two dozen cookies of various types to go. I highly recommend this place.... at least for breakfast.
We just lucked into this restaurant after shopping in the area. I was definitely looking for gluten free and their offerings are fabulous! Lots of variety in the menu! Fresh soups, house made GF bread (super yummy!), and even GF cookies. I'm trying to find excuses to make the 2 hour drive again soon.
Twice is nice. We enjoyed our lunch so much at the cafe on last Saturday on our way to DC that we stopped again on our way back to Pittsburgh on Sunday. These people make their own bread, and the sandwiches we had were excellent. My husband enjoyed the pineapple glazed ham, and I had locally raised beef with a wonderful horseradish sauce. Imagine my surprise at seeing a lovely slice of summer-time-looking tomato when I lifted the bread to add the sauce. The sandwiches were accompanied by a tasty vinegar-dressed slaw and chips. On Sunday, I had the tomato and basil soup in a bread bowl (the bowl was a little too tough to eat) and a fresh salad with the house dressing. My husband very much enjoyed his burger. The food was fresh and delicious, and the presentation was lovely. Our servers both days were quite nice as well. If you're at the springs or just passing through, don't miss this gem.
Egg White Omelet is superb. Light and fluffy with a delicious flavor fresh of tomatoes, sautéed onions and mushrooms topped with American cheeses. A nice old world atmosphere with a modern twist.
A Must forBreakfast. We came here from the Bedford Springs Omni to have breakfast on Sunday morning. What a delight ! As an architect i must say that it is a beautifully designed little cafe with a lot of character. There were four of us and we all enjoyed our food. My friend had the all you can eat pancakes - I had the egg white omlette. Everything was delicious.

Enjoyed a luscious filet mignon this evening at "The Nest"....followed by decadent chocolate pecan pie. I recommend the premium, locally-provided, aged beef in any format...filet to burger!

Absolutely Delightful!. My sister and I have dined at the Bird's Nest for a couple of year's (the half way meeting point for the two of us). The restaurant is always welcoming, quaint, clean ... the food is incredibly delicious ... where else can you still find homemade meals that are tasty, scumptious and not expensive. Our absolute favorite is saving room for any of the homemade desserts, but a shout out for the beesting cake which is THE MOST DELICIOUS cake I've ever had. I memorize the delicious flavors every time I have the cake and am never disappointed. I only wish I could have one of those yummy cakes delivered every week ... but of course, that would lead to a terrible cholestrol count ... right :) Love the place, can't go wrong.!
I'm never disappointed with the Bird's Nest! Charming atmosphere, excellent food and friendly staff. The bee sting cake is to die for and we always get some iced shortbread cookies to take home! The Bird's Nest Cafe is definitely an asset to Bedford.

We're vegetarian, and we were delightfully surprised. What a wonderful little restaurant! The chef, Jason Barnes, takes very deserved pride in his masterful creations. We had portobello (with feta and spinach) with wild rice, a perfect salad, rolls with honey butter. Amazing. The waitpeople were caring, and appreciated the excellence of their little restaurant. The decor is all about honey and sweet things and the people compliment it perfectly!
