The food was fresh and tasted amazing. Our server was friendly and helpful. The wait from when we ordered to when the food came out was pretty long though. It is a bit pricey as well. Will be back but will make sure I have a lot of extra time. Still room for improvement.
Interesting food with unique delicious flavors. My wife and I were in from out of town and tried several appetizers as well as the wood fired pizza. We loved it! Best pizza ever.
Great local organic farm food. Will be back!
Creative Cuisine. This places rocks! We ate here twice on a trip to Bedford. They use quality local ingredients, and it shows! The meat pot pie was delicious, as was the African stew. They also had local trout cooked in the wood-fired oven, coated with Himalayan salt, and stuffed with delicious greens and onions.
You can even get raw milk, as well as kombucha, and beet kvass. And the pizzas looked delicious, but we were too busy scarfing down other dishes to try them.
Don't miss it if you're in the area.
Open your mind and be amazed. We snagged an early table at dinner near the fire which was good because it was chilly in there.
These people are pretty militant about sustainability so if you're a fan of chain restaurants and eating what you've always eaten, don't go. If, however, you like to supply your own wine (no corkage fee), and you like to see your food being prepared from scratch (including the pasta for your lasagna), you're in the right place.
We live in Pittsburgh and were in Bedford for a few days. I found this place online and decided to give it a try. At this point, I would be willing to return to Bedford just for a meal here.
My husband ordered the grass-fed steak burger with onion marmalade and pronounced it one of the best burgers he's ever eaten. I had the lamb shepard's pie. The salad that came with it was large and perfectly dressed. The pie was the most amazing taste sensation ever (and I don't say this lightly). It was clearly hand made and somehow sweet and savory at once. We shared a baked apple with kefir yogurt and maple syrup for dessert.
I can't wait to get back to this place.
Truly wonderful experience. My wife and I went for dinner tonight and loved every bite. We shared 3 starters: the cauliflower soup (yum - i could eat this every day), the apple beet micro greens salad (so, so tasty), and the amazing baked potato (seriously, with the cheese on top, out of this world). We then each had a main. Me: the grass-fed beef burger on a grilled portobello mushroom top. She: the 'why isn't this thing world-famous' chicken pot pie. And for desert: gluten-free pumpkin pie. We brought our own wine with us (byob with no uncorking fee) and sat by the cozy wood-burning fire. We absolutely loved this place. The prices are great. The atmosphere is relaxed. The staff is extremely friendly and attentive. We can't wait to go back for brunch this Sunday. The only drawback: we live in New York City and can't really justify the 5 hour commute every week...
You should definitely go. Don't miss this rustic farm-to-table experience!
Fresh and Delicious. This is a new restaurant which just opened May 1st according to our very knowledgable server! She also gave a little history of the building, and could tell us the whos, whats, and whys of the menu, with a smile and sense of humor. Definitely a people person!
The prices were great for a farm-to-table type establishment! The highest priced item was the rib-eye steak for $19. Our party of 8 had a great experience and truly enjoyed the food and atmosphere. It got a little loud when the dining room filled up, but we all had fun and loved our food! They need to get their name out to the nearby resorts because my table and another 8-10 top were all coming from a conference at Bedford Springs, and this was exactly what we were looking for!
They should lose the "Freshtaurant" thing though, it's really hokey. Farm-to-table Restaurant is plenty descriptive.
Flavorful and interesting menu. My wife and I have gone back many times since our first visit and it just keeps getting better and better. We've tried everything we can on the menu and we have never been disappointed! They really got it dialed in! Our favorites are the soup- any soup they have is deeply flavorful. The more rocking pork bowl that is aptly named, the steak is top, and so is the lamb! My wife enjoys their salads and homemade dressings, and we can't get enough of their sourdough! The nacho mama's vegan cheese sauce is delicious on the seasoned potatoes and we love the juicy burgers and homemade buns- the beer cheese burger, the chili cheese burger and the bean burger are our favorites. And the desserts!!!! these kind of desserts you don't come across often.they are decadent without being overly sweet, I dig into the bread pudding or layer cakes and my wife really enjoys the cheese cake, even though it happens to be gluten free.. And when we are in the mood for pizza this is our go to spot!!!
We always plan our next trip on the way home from dining. This place is relaxed and friendly. The staff all get paid a living wage- even the kitchen staff get tipped automatically through every sale, and we think this should be a practice in every restaurant! The food is wholesome and flavorful and it is worth every cent!
Great little farm to table spot! I wish I could have ordered off the breakfast menu but I did not see any items that were gluten free. My roasted bacon chicken salad was very good. I also purchased vanilla bean syrup for home. Everyone was very pleased and super happy.
This place is an excellent, out-of-the-way, COZY joint, built within a really neat, old stone building probably from the 1900s, or even 1800s! One should eat here just to see the old fireplace in the side room...it looks like where Daniel Boone would stomp in from the cold to get some communal stew! The food was truly excellent - small menu, but made from scratch, and very good. Decent portions, but no take home for me, so not huge. Price was steep for the area, but again, scratch made and very good quality. The service was also excellent. Hope to be back!
A hidden gem of a restaurant. Wonderful farm fresh ingredients mixed into grand entrees. They local source ingredients. Farm fresh Devon beef makes a juicy burger and the fresh coleslaw is a beautiful side dish. Highly recommend this eatery.
Stopped here for lunch on our way from the laurel highlands back to Philadelphia. The restaurant is about a 5 min drive off the Pa turnpike and well worth the stop. Fresh, healthy, local food and friendly, fast service. They have a nice, quiet, shaded outdoor seating area, which is where we ate with our dog. We almost didn’t stop bc of the reviews commenting about being expensive and the additional service fee. Other reviews made it sound like a sneaky added fee that you wouldn’t be aware of until you pay. Not true, a notice is posted on the front door with the reason why they charge it (to support their staff, see photo in review) and it’s really not that much extra. We were glad we stopped and happy to support this local, eco minded business!
Ordered take out while in the area— was absolutely wonderful!! Salads were perfectly portioned and the dressing was flavorful and delicious. The five cheese pizza was INCREDIBLE, as in, some of the best pizza I’ve ever had. Do wish the veggie pizza had been just as good— veggies looked to have been cooked separately and placed on top later, so they never really felt like a “part of the pizza,” more just haphazardly placed toppings.
Still, everything else was perfect, and the staff and owner were jovial and welcoming. Can’t wait to come back and try something new!!
Colossal Burger is amazing!!
American cheese platter was a great treat!!!
This place was a great find!
Laid back atmosphere and great food!.
The staff is hustling to get you taken care of!!!
Stop by and see for yourself
