My husband and I have lived in Thaxton for 13 years, (and counting) but we had never eaten here. We were turned off by the look if the exterior. Shame on us! We've now had breakfast here and I was amazed! The eggs were SO fresh and the yolks a gorgeous yellow. The hash browns tasty and the bacon yummy! We also had fried taters with onions, a cheese omelet and coffee. All cooked perfectly! Fresh, very tasty and filling! The cost was around $15 for breakfast for 2 with all the trimmings and coffee. ððžI'm gonna work on becoming a regular ð

We were looking for a place to eat in
Bedford. Stopped here because
a lot people there thought it would
be a good place to eat. We ordered
Hamburger Steak. We got a small
round hamburger with gravy on top.
mashed taters were good. Waitress
friendly but long wait on food. Portions were small for price. We
haven't been back.

Honestly was not going to eat there based on how it looked from the outside. But we were pleasantly surprised. All the food was great and fresh. It's country cooking and it's cheap and fresh. Friendly service.

First time here in years - ALOT of years. Pleasantly surprised with the food selection and atmosphere. Great idea on the menu - dry erase with daily offerings marked - which gives a great selection but keeps costs down.
People behind us kept bouncing off of the bench and my husbands chair was in the path of the restrooms were the reason for not five stars.

Breakfasts are quite good there. Friendly staff, and quite clean. Our costs were $15.80 for 2 people included 1 drink. A bargin in todays restaurant competitiveness. Overall a pleasant experience. And one of the best breakfast places to go in the area.

Down-home cooking, down-home atmosphere. A lot of locals eat here. Breakfast and Lunch only. Always some fresh desserts, menu on those varies. Simple Virginia fare, nothing fancy. Staff is friendly, joint is clean. Has tables and a counter. Usually pretty busy especially on Saturday and Sunday mornings. It's basically a family-owned country diner. Come as you are.

I have only been to this restaurant for breakfast, but it is great comfort/country food. I usually get the country ham, egg over easy, side of tomatoes and toast. I can't go there without getting the grits as well, very tasty.

Went here for lunch on a Wednesday & they definitely did not disappoint!
The chuckwagon steak, the club sandwich & the flounder were all delicious!
We were a party of 3 & everyone loved what they ordered!
They had Pepsi instead of Coke!!! Yay!
We loved the cole slaw, biscuits & cornbread too!
Don't let the outside of the building stop you from coming in!!
It is a wonderful down home country style restaurant with great prices & huge portions!!
Finally a place you get your money's worth!
So if you're in the area and you're looking for a delicious breakfast or lunch as they close at 2 p.m., please don't hesitate to stop on in & sit a spell and enjoy great food with good prices an excellent customer service!! âĪïļ
