Review Mid Cities Cafe - Bedford

Wo place. Neatly tucked in Bedford shopping center. The food is fresh and the coffee is delicious. The menu has something for everyone. There is various choices in omelettes. I chose the California omelette. It is a charming place. The staff here has pleasant people to serve wonderful food.

The wait time was understandable because of how busy it was. What was inexcusable was that the owner/manager ignored my husband and I when one of her "regulars" came in, so she greeted them before us, despite us standing at the front for 10 minutes. It took 30 minutes for anyone to come to my table. It took another 20 minutes for me to get a beverage, another 15 for my order to be taken, and a whole hour for my food to be brought out. It doesn't stop there, they took the order incorrectly! So my husband's food was not what he ordered, He specified the chicken fried chicken multiple times, and yet.. chicken fried steak. Also, we never did get our beverages refilled. I think a good indication of whether the service was good, is if the waitress/waiter never let's you see the bottom of your coffee mug... 100% disappointed and absolutely do not recommend.

We are from Oklahoma, visiting TX on a trip! This was the cutest place! So clean, pretty, and peaceful! Food was absolutely delicious! Best crepes I have ever had! Anthony, our server, was so kind, experienced, and patient! All of the employees were very proactive and nice!

Excellent breakfast. The chicken fried steak is as big as the plate, and very 😋 delicious. The service is excellent. It was all great.

I've dined in once before and it was pretty tasty. I ordered pick up today while my mom and sister are in town visiting: 2 bacon waffles, cinnamon French toast and 2 iced coffees. I got a call about 10 minutes after I ordered saying it was ready. I arrived, paid the full bill and received two plain waffles. I stated that we were missing quite a few items and those were the incorrect waffles. We waited, I was upcharged for the bacon, and our food was ready. Bacon bits were dumped on top of the waffles, the iced coffees had no ice, and there was no butter or syrup for the French toast. We are pretty disappointed.

Must be the Irish in me. Let's talk breakfast potatoes. The potatoes served are the freezer bag diced variety found at your local grocery. No issue there, you can make those taste pretty good... Like frozen French fries, if they are made fresh to order they taste pretty good. So Mid Cities Cafe, what about the diced potatoes? My experience makes me think you probably pre-make the potatoes in bulk. The critique of the potatoes: a bit dried out, sunk in, and not hot. The outside texture was chewy. The crispness it had achieved in a past life had faded away. These poor potatoes could only look at their picture on the menu as being the golden brown potatoes they use to be. Nope, these poor guys tasted more like they had been cooked crisp, then refrigerated, and served reheated. Why not freshly cooked to order like French fries?

This is def a local recommendation. The food is great. We had the pancakes, cinnamon French toast, and regular French toast. The only downfall is the amount of time it takes to get your food, and even get your food ordered. Seems like a lot of high school kids work there...and they only had one person waiting all the tables when we were there. Took FOREVER!!!

Best pancakes I've ever had! Migas was great, over medium eggs cooked perfect, kids meals were larger portions than I imagined. But the pancakes were good enough to briefly consider moving from Florida to Texas. Service was attentive and on point.

I have been eating here since it opened and have had good experiences. The breakfast is very good but lunch and other items are marginal at best. I went in today for breakfast service was very slow and my order finely arrived ( eggs Benedict) there were no eggs on the English muffins. There are many good places for breakfast in this area Dixie House, Old West and several others and I suggest you pick one.

I came here at lunchtime, seeking yet another option for "comfort food" - you know, variety. Mid Cities Cafe had a very friendly wait staff, and better than average atmosphere, cleanliness, good feeling, etc.  For my first time here I ordered my favorite: Chicken tenders with mashed potatoes and cream gravy. They didn't have any "second side" that appealed to me, so I just got the basic salad. I will give them credit for Freshness.<br/>I guess it's "not nice" to mention competitors in a review, so I won't, but each of the food items were below the quality I'm used to in my most favorite place, yet had a price a bit above that place. The chicken itself was good, but had a hard and thick breading, the kind I dislike at a certain burger place. The mashed potatoes were only half mashed, and were just okay - less good flavor than my favorite place. The cream gravy seemed to not have any cream, but flour instead. The salad had a bland "ranch" dressing, so it was no "comfort". Nothing was "comforting", actually. Only the Dr. Pepper was up to snuff. I would not return here or bring a friend unless my favorite ten places were all destroyed. Nothing was bad, really, but nothing stood out as good either. Maybe their breakfasts are better?

Great comfort food. Everything was really fresh and portions were more than fair. Cafe dining room was clean and service was attentive. We went for lunch and the chicken fried chicken was very good, the mashed potatoes were made with red potatoes and just a bit of the peal to give color and texture, and believe it or not, even the toast that was served with it deserves to be mentioned. Looking forward to going back for breakfast which by the way, is served all day.

Very courteous and prompt service, despite it being near closing time. Great chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes, obviously from scratch. Ample menu. Very friendly and accommodating owner, Mr Sam.
