Called my order in I only work maybe 3 minutes got there order person told me it was not done. I ordered a Shrimp plate $15 with tax. Nothing on my plate was hot. My fries were old and my shrimp were overcooked and they were not hot at all. This is my third time visiting. It's to expensive for the quality. Word of advice give receipts I noticed that also what business doesn't give receipts. My wasted lunch. My wasted time. My wasted money.

The restaurant was more or less clean. It was lunchtime when I visited with my wife and was not too busy. She ordered a catfish plate, it was ok, not bad, just nothing special. I ordered the hamburger with cheese and was disappointed. It tasted like the pre-made cheap frozen burger patties you would buy at Sam's Club, was not cooked as ordered (medium) it was close to well done on the outside and nearly cold in the middle. Perhaps it was still frozen when they tried to cook it. Marty J's loses my vote.

Sparse, but clean. All but four tables look just a little larger than card tables; with padded metal chairs. The other four are booths.
Walls are a very light blue, with south Louisiana and fishing decorations.
Reports about the AYCE blue crabs is that they were well-deserved, and mostly full. The fried shrimp and fried catfish were adequate. I was not fond of their tartar sauce.
Our server was one of the owners. She was busy, informed, and dedicated.

Five stars for casual type eating places. The onion rings are the best..love the onion rings light batter and string type.. not big fat ones. .The boiled seafood is good but not always available so call first if going for the boiled shrimp or crabs..which are not too much heat..just seasoned. I wanted a break from the heat.. It has a comfortable atmosphere like a small town cafe....burgers and poboys are good...haven't had anything I didn't like...if you're looking for casual place this is it...I see families there, and couples, and singles, and a lot of folks just picking it up and not staying...pretty fast.. reasonable prices...

Everything there from the boudin balls to the roast beef poboys to the seafood plates, amazing. Simply amazing. But what's most impressive about the place isn't the food. It's the service and attitude of the employees. Makes you want to frequent Marty J's. Love the place and I go there at least twice a week.

This is my favorite place to get a shrimp or roast beef poboy in Baton Rouge. The staff is always attentive and helpful. Their roast beef is tender and seasoned just right. The shrimp are fried perfectly. The poboy is all about the bread, and Marty J's has some of the best.

I will go back for the poboys but the crawfish not so much.
I absolutely love crawfish especially the flavor and spices. The crawfish here were very bland. It may be better for families with children.
The dipping sauce was good.

Terrible food! Burger is crap and roast beef poboy had about as much flavor as cardboard. Over priced also. I will never go back!

Excellent boiled crawfish, easy to peel, and so perfectly seasoned! and we were able to get some on Easter sunday without reserving them! thank you!

The Grayson family enjoyed their visit to Marty J's. The shrimp po-boy was packed full of great tasting shrimp. The po-boy bread was perfect. The service was great at a good price. We'll be back for sure to try the mud bugs.

The price versus the portion of food was not acceptable. I miss Leroy's already! The cheese sticks are not as good anymore at all. The menu is a lot less work on them, but the price is still for a sit down restaurant. The person taking my order was not friendly at all, but the server who brought my order was pleasant. Too many employees were hanging out for my taste. I like seeing people busy working when I am at a place. There was only one table being used, but if it wasn't for their shirts, I would have thought the employees were customers as well from their behavior. I am very disappointed with this visit.

Went to the Nicholson location. Dead as can be. Went in and ordered though. It's advertised half off appetizers on Sunday's but we didn't get them half off yet full price. My fiancé was fine with it so I said nothing. Expensive prices for burgers and they are just ok. Seafood platter mostly fries, strike two. The seafood had no real taste to stick out. Blah. I wish leroys could have stuck it out a little longer. Won't be coming back. 41 dollars for this place is not worth it. Rather go to red lobster. Good customer service though, but a little worry some that the chef kept going back in and out of the restaurant. Just hope to good hand washing is done as well.

JoJo. I had the hot roast beef poboy which was excellent ... great bread. Gravy was the right consistency. Homemade onion rings were also good. The rest of my party had shrimp poboys which they enjoyed. Staff was always following up on your order. It's a simple concept. Just order your food at the counter, wait a few minutes to be called when it's ready, then sit down and eat. No issues with the service.

Best fried shrimp po' boy in town. We have been a couple of times. The food is fabulous. It has the best fried shrimp po' boy in town. My husband are their roast beef and if was the real deal. It had big pieces of real roast beef. Not to mention, they have boudin balls stuffed with pepper jack cheese. It's set up like a market, not a sit down service restaurant. We are very excited about the 2nd location, too!!! This is a great addition to Baton Rouge!!!

The food is good, however the service is awful. The last two times I was there they got my order incorrect and the employees are more occupied trying to appear busy or talking to each other to care about your order or experience.

Market and seafood diner type place. Order at the counter and pick it up to eat in.<br/><br/>Po-boys and seafood, roast beef, burger, smoked turkey, ham too.<br/><br/>Pretty tasty boiled shrimp and crawfish.<br/><br/>Update 7/19: Blue crabs in now and a bit disappointing. Small and too many in the batch were mushy or no meat inside. Price good but reward not there.<br/><br/>Community Ice Tea a plus and bread pudding good.
