We chose the fingers style beignet plate for this Sunday afternoon snack sweet. And some hot Community Coffee Cafe Au Lait. Two cups for me.
Fingers cooked to order and we took a few home too. Hot and powdery. Nicely done.

Good!. This is the closest to Cafe Du Monde you can get. The coffee is good as well; felt like I was on Decatur Street.
Man! What have I been missin'?. I've been meaning to stop and check this place out because I love beignets and don't like traveling too far to get them. However, the Rue's beignets and Fingers are worth the drive. They are huge, light, puffy, and cakey in the right ratio; covered with a mountain of white confection sugar or honey and cafe au lait and "Papa's in happy town." The Fingers are slivers of fried beignets that have a following of their own. Very crispy and puffy...love them too. It's right across from Ruffinos restaurant for my friends who need a landmark.
It's good.... This is about as close as it gets without going to NOLA for beignets.
