My husband and I visited Cocha a couple of nights ago and had one of our best dining experiences anywhere. I'll be honest - we are food snobs. We have lived and travelled abroad a good bit and have felt like New Orleans was our only option for interesting, well thought out dishes (with Nino's in BR being the only exception). We took our time at Cocha (3 hours!), enjoying multiple rounds of small plates and drinks. The food was incredible and we really appreciated the attention to detail the chef and owners put into the menu - kimchi domas, grilled octopus with edamame, mushroom carpaccio, oyster dumplings in absinthe sauce. And the wines were spectacular- we tasted several we had never had before and Saskia, the very gracious and knowledgeable owner, had an extensive knowledge about each wine, where they came from, and what she liked about them. We ended our meal with 2 delicious desserts and their recommended dessert wines. We closed the place down and loved every minute of it!
We enjoyed every part of our experience from beginning to end. The atmosphere and concept are really cool; it’s laid back - like a big city neighborhood place. Our server, Chelsea, set the tone; she was the perfect combination of easy-going, knowledgeable, there every time we wanted her, and never hovering/intrusive. I loved my unique Aquavit cocktail, the dip duo, duck, cheese plate, etc. The vegan ice cream was (somehow) one of the richest, best ice creams I’ve had. The manager checked in with us and walked us out at the end of our nearly 5-hour visit. We will return here soon, and we hope to do the chef’s table, as well.
