Sam's Southern Eatery

To start Ms. Miracle was delightful. It was our first time here from Ga. She was attentive and patient with me. We got our food to go and it was delicious through and through. I had to get multiple things (Liver and Gizzards, crab cakes, whole catfish and 4 sides. Very reasonably priced on all items. I know one place I can get good food and it's here. I'm glad the recommendation came to me. They have enough tables and chairs for you to dine in and not be all on top of others comfortably. Great place! I had the pleasure of coming back to this tasty place. This time I was determined to dine in. Again Ms. Miracle was incredibly sweet. The baby shrimp basket was seasoned perfectly and cooked golden brown. I am not a hush puppy person but they were one of the best I've had. The sides are not seasoned with salt and pepper which is great for those who have other health problems. Unfortunately I was not able to dine in and enjoy this experience. It was cut short due to my allergies. I understand that this is an old building, however, the food is too delicious to be surrounded by mold and dust. It took all of ten minutes at the table for me to be completely overtaken by the extreme watery, puffy eyes and tingly skin. Please have someone come and check it out before it hurts someone seriously. The menu is too scrumptious to go away because no one is cleaning properly.

We stopped here on our way through from Arkansas. On the outside it is quite evident this used to be a KFC. We braced ourselves and walked in. And the lady behind the counter was as nice as could be. The cooks came out and chatted with us. The wife and I ordered the seafood basket and for a place not on the coast it was pretty good. The shrimp were large, the fish cooked just right and flaky to perfection. It was a pleasant surprise. While driving east-west on I-20 we've returned there a few times, taking the hour detour in stride for good fried food. (Sounds like an oxymoron, I know.) I've never tried their sandwiches and maybe never will.

This is no longer Sam's. It's new name is Chick O'Fish. The fish sizes were terribly small, and it was SALTY!!! They didn't have Dr. Pepper, and apparently they were out of Sprite, too, because they were straight carbonation. Even the chicken was too salty!! I don't know if they've gotten better because we haven't been back. I've been trying to wait for the name to be changed on here bc Sam's was actually very good, but these people need some help.
