It's easy to miss this tiny place as it's tucked in under a large office building, but it's really a great spot. I work in said office building and frequent OutTakes for sodas, snacks, ice cream and the occasional wrap.
Atmosphere
This is a welcome addition to Station North, which has an abundance of shabby-chiq restaurants like SNAC and Bohemian Cafe. While both of these restaurants are great, OutTakes has a much more modern and frankly cleaner ambiance than most of the restaurants in the neighborhood. The restaurant makes good use of it's small space, is bright, well-lit and welcoming. The only thing I would say is that it's usually pretty empty; I'm guessing most of it's clientele are like me, grabbing lunch and heading back to the office. I think some more signage outside and maybe a website might fill the place up a bit more.
Service
OutTakes would probably suffer from a lack of character were it not for the owner. I've been there multiple times and I've never seen any staff other than him, which is just fine with me. He's incredibly friendly and will chat with you as you order, but he works fast. I can get in and out with lunch in 5 or so minutes if I'm the only one there, and he'll chat with you or just sing along to music that's playing while he cooks.
Food
Ice cream is Hershey's brand and is pretty good. I think it's a little bit over priced, but it's a nice treat once in a while. Wraps are good as well; I've had the cabo and it is fantastic. The selection isn't super expansive, but all your standard sandwiches are represented; BLT, Tuna Salad, Greek. There's something for everyone.
