The Wharf Rat

Their online menu is not working and they refuse phone orders (with an attitude). Orders are made at the bar - English pub style. The food quality is nothing to write home about. As a pub it's more about the company you bring with you and less about the food anyway. They do have a Mug Club if you're going to become a regular. There's outdoor seating which is cute, they are making use of a portion of Lancaster Street, which is very low traffic. It's also quiet. The canopy they use does have some character so it doesn't feel so bad sitting in the street. In terms of service it depends on who you get and the mood they're in.

The fish and chips were better than average. The hush puppies were also good, which I had along with the crab cake. Unfortunately, about half of the menu items (which were the ones that I wanted) were marked as "unavailable" and they were out of buns for crab cake sandwich. Nice selection of beers, including seasonal brews. The exterior and interior motif were very nice and the whole place had a cool vibe about it.
