Seewee was recommended to me by a local. He said I would think he was crazy when I got there, because it had crooked floors and such. I thought this would be my kind of place, locals fave and it was! We were greeted by the cashier and then seated quickly by one of the waitresses.
Next we met our waitress, MeMe, who brought a basket of amazing hush puppies. Hot and crispy. We both ordered a cup of She Crab soup. Meme brought these with a side of sherry, which I had never heard of (from NC, we don't do this ). Meme explained some folks love it, some don't so try it first. I decided to go all in, the sherry added a nice flavor, but it was delicious either way you like it.
For the entree I had one of the specials, Mahi grilled Seaweed style with okra and collards. The Mahi was cooked perfectly, the seasoning was very tasty, okra was lightly battered crisp and yummy. Collards were not my fave, needed more seasoning a little ham or something. My bf has the crab legs, which he very much enjoyed with okra, fried mushrooms and onion rings. I sampled his onion rings and stole a couple, some of the best I've ever tasted, the batter was perfect, crisp and light. Both dinners were plentiful portions. I also took apple cheesecake home for dessert, yummy stuff!!
Overall a great experience . The atmosphere is eclectic, homey not fancy at all. The building was formerly a gas station, so I discovered the restrooms were outside! 😂 Meme made the experience fun, she had a great sense of humor, cut up with the patrons and provided great service. We would definitely visit again!! Sorry, I forgot to take pics of the food.

What a wonderful little gem!!! Not good if you are on a diet as there is a lot of good ol southern fried food. And I mean a lot!!! You get a lot of food in your meal. The staff are super friendly and helpful. It may not look like it, but it is a wonderful place! I recommend getting the crab dip and putting it on their amazing hush puppies!

This place was one of the most all around enjoyable experiences I’ve had! The food was delicious! We had the crab dip, grouper and crab cakes, all cooked to perfection and incredibly tasty! The coleslaw may be some the best I’ve ever had! Butter beans and macaroni and cheese were on point! The atmosphere was equally enjoyable, with so much charm and original structure from the general store that was originally there. The service was exceptional! We loved talking to our server, his sister and the owner. It’s family owned and ran which speaks volumes to what a treat you’re in for! We will be back! Thank you for sharing your passion of service and food with us!

A local favorite seafood and country cooking restaurant. Located on Hwy. 17 in Awendaw in a non-descript old house. Best fried shrimp I've ever had!

Awesome down home cooking with obvious local flare. Fresh ingredients every day and reasonable prices. A bit small, but worth any discomfort to enjoy.

Definitely a hole in the wall place that has amazing food. Took my wife there for Mothers day lunch and it was worth the wait and trip from Charleston. Will definitely go back soon considering how good all the country cooking tasted. The green beans where the best thing on my plate that I ordered (boneless chicken). I had to make myself stop eating and passed on the yummy looking desserts.

Just finished eating here and the reviews are right on. From the sweet owner helping us park to the friendly hard working waitress Kerry, everything was great.
The food awesome. I had the seafood special flounder, oysters and shrimp with fried green tomatoes, my wife had fried shrimp with collards and red rice. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted very fresh. Oh and the hush puppies that come out so you can snack while you wait. They had a killer looking dessert menu but we had no room. This place is going into my favorites for when traveling back this way.

We had the Friday Dinner Special of Catch of the Day Salmon, with 2 sides plus Hush Puppies. Dessert was Death by Chocolate Cake. Everything was absolutely delicious. Kelly was a great waitress, and everyone was very family-friendly. Will definitely come again if we're in the area!

We enjoyed a meal here. They have a nice variety of options including many sides and desserts. For drinks you get cans or bottles. They start you off with hush puppies while you wait to order. We ordered a crabcake meal, crab legs, flounder and shrimp, ham n cheese sandwich, chicken tenders, and shrimo Po Boi. For sides we ordered squash, fried mushrooms, onion rings, seasoned fries, mashed potatoes and gravy, and Mac n cheese. The fried items were a bit bland for our taste.
The waitress did a great job serving us and the atmosphere was laid back and pleasant.

Neat little restaurant, you can DEFINITELY feel that old south charm
Wait staff was really friendly and comical at times.
Food was very good, but lacked salt in many dishes. Guess it's better to add because you can't take away.
Only downfall is parking is atrocious.
If you are out of town, definitely got to give it a shot.
