I absolutely love the Tehari at this restaurant! It's the best I've ever tasted. Whenever I'm in Austin, I make it a point to come here. The chicken shwarma platter didn't impress me as much, but the Tehari is a must-try. They have a shop attached where you can buy South Asian Masala, sweets, foods, and halal meat, although it's a bit pricey. Overall, highly recommend for the amazing Tehari! However, I must mention that the entry point was quite challenging. The steep downhill at the entrance made it difficult to navigate, resulting in unintentional bumps to our car on multiple occasions.
Shahi is the ONLY place in Austin to have Bangladeshi style Beef Tehari (call first and check, it's usually over the weekends).
Their catering prices are also reasonable and highly customizable. Chicken Roast, Korma Chicken and Shami Kababs are all really good.
I have gotten Bangladeshi food from there a couple of times, and it is absolutely delicious! Very authentic. The price is a bit high compared to Houston, so I'm not sure if it's because of the area or if their prices are just higher than other places. But I think this is the only Bangladeshi restaurant in town, so they pretty much have a monopoly on this. With that being said, I'd still recommend this place because the quality of the food is good. Although, they should really consider renovating their cafe if they want customers to dine-in. I really want to take my non-Bangladeshi friends and colleagues to a Bangladeshi restaurant, but theirs is not up to the mark. It looks like the owner has given up. Would like to dine-in there if they make it more customer friendly.
This is our go to place for Bangladeshi food ( the only one Bangladeshi place in Austin)! The food is close to what one would find in Bangladesh. Their beef tehari is the best one to me! Another one of our favorite item is alu samosa with cha Over the years we have tried their haleem, chicken roast, rui bhuna etc all of which are really tasty especially for someone craving that deshi food! It’s always better to call ahead of time since they have a lot of catering orders, hence they run out of food. Also this is more like a hole-in-the-wall kind of place, not a fancy one! So don’t have high hopes. But we really love it! Gives you that star kabab ( if you are a Bangladeshi who lived at Dhaka you would know) type feeling!
Their Tehari is awesome! Perfect bangladeshi taste, the amount is really good for price as well. They also have a grocery section, a huge range of fish, and frozen Sajna, kachur loti, korolla, kalo jam and other usual stuffs! The front desk bangali bhai is really friendly as well. Definitely our go to place from now on!

Bangladeshi vaat er hotel. Arguably the best type of Bangladeshi food you could ever find in Austin. This place is just too good. All food items are delicious, mouth-watering and you would certainly find the presence of deshi taste in your tongue. This is also a grocery shop so you can also buy varieties of fish items alongside halal duck, mutton and beef items from here. They would serve sweets as deserts and their tea tastes heavenly.
Halal food, Bangladeshi grocery store.
Their beef tehari (only available on Fridays or pre ordered) is the best in Texas.
delicious chicken kofta kebab!! they also have a $7 buffet!! 👍🏼👍🏼
One of the best authentic Bangladeshi restaurant in Austin,Texas… best beef tehari, mixed vegetables..Highly recommend. Nice behavior..
You can really taste the freshness in the food at Shahi Cafe. The owner and I was chatting it up and she mentioned that all the meat used is never frozen. NEVER! Once you taste any of their meat dishes or kebab you will agree. My sister and I go here all the time! We usually split a biriyani (because it's huge) or we get wraps or kebabs. I can't get over the kebab though; best in Austin. Try anything, you won't be dissatisfied.
I had the buffet and was very impressed. The food was delicious and the staff very friendly. The person at the front desk ensured we were comfortably seated, got the high chairs for the kids and was not at all annoyed when my little one spilled water on the floor. The Naans were fresh and soft, the rest of the food was very tasty. Biryani may need some improvement, but I am not a big rice person, so it did not matter much to me. I would certainly go again to this place.
So happy to come across this place! They truly have the BEST Samosas in town. Warm, flaky, filling, and so flavorful!....you can taste the love. When you get the chance I strongly suggest you try one of each.
We had their lunch buffet. They have some delicious Bangladeshi food. I was amazed to find that they had nihari in their buffet menu. It was the first time I was nihari in a buffet and I was elated. All the items I tried were really good. They offered sweets as dessert. I liked the tea too. The place was a bit crowded the day we went there. Overall, highly recommend this place.
Amazing food cooked and spiced perfectly as well as generously portioned! Server was hospitable and personable. Will definitely be returning to try other dishes.
In my opinion, this is hands down the best food of ANY kind I've ever had in Austin. The naan is incredible, I have never had naan anywhere else that remotely compares. The biryani is my favorite, but the shawarma is a close second, and DO NOT leave without trying the tabouleh. The desserts are also amazing. The hummus is quite mild and creamy but topped with flavorful olive oil and when combined with the naan it is absolute perfection. The portion sizes are ridiculously huge and the prices are ridiculously low and the staff is always super friendly and eager to see their customers have a great experience. I would give this place ten stars if I could!
