We had SUCH a great time visiting here! We're from St.Pete FL, and loved the chill and welcoming atmosphere at SquareRüt. Jimmy the greeter dog showed us the way in, top tier customer service 🙌 And Dylan gave us some awesome pointers on which strains we should try. The art, setup, seating, and all of the customers were so lovely. Thanks!
If I could give more stars I would! Visiting from FL with my sister and her gf. They're super into kava and they were so happy this place was there. I had hot tea. Very dope setting and comfy to be at. They really liked the Aolana (spelling?) The kava tender, Dylan, was so friendly and knew his stuff. It was a pleasure to have met him! Give him a raise and a bonus for sleeping there to keep it safe when the window got stuck open! Haha! The regulars (inc. Jimmy the dog) were chill and all of us humans had nice conversation :) Thanks again, Dylan! We'll be back if we're in Austin again!
The atmosphere, kava quality and kavatender Mallory sold me on this spot. It is picturesque as if built into a mountain on Barton with swing suits, tin and the whole nine. I visited over 3 months ago for one night and ultimately ended up moving to Austin. Mal remembered me and gave me a great welcome to Austin. That is customer service!
My friend owns @tikitidekavabar in South Florida. Other than her spot I never found a kava bar I enjoyed for repeat visits because they usually lack in atmosphere, customer service, drink quality, cleanliness or the attitude or clique-iness patrons. I am now after 4 years in the kava world I am expanding that list to two with the inclusion of SquareRut Barton Springs.
Nice vibe. Gotta be honest though kava tastes pretty awful but the setting , vibe , staff and location are all great. I wouldn't say kava is really for me and it's the price of going out and drinking, still a neat experience though
You gotta try it.
Don't expect an ethereal experience. Or even a tasty treat for that matter.
But do give it a try.
Tastes earthy. More like subtle soil with wood notes. Some grit to it.
Makes your mouth tingly and numb.
Pretty sure there's some perma-grin in there too.
Relaxing, sure. Easy to drink, maybe not so much.
Everything seemed brighter on my way home.
This place is just the best. We’ve been a few times, and every time we go we seem to make a new friend. The people there are so pleasant to be around, and the kava seems to make everyone chiller & happier. We brought our dog Maxine with us, and the person working there was super nice and let her come up and sniff everyone. Highly highly recommend!
Quickly become one of my favorite places in Austin. Incredible atmosphere nestled in a bit of nature while skyscrapers loom from the windows.
This place has been a bastion of safety and support for me in the past month. We moved to Austin staying in Pecan Grove, and I'm so glad this happens to be next to me. As a non-drinking extrovert, having a "bar" with regulars to go to that does not provide alcohol and is majority recovery focused has been great. The staff is wonderful, the atmosphere is great, and while Kava tastes like... Kava, I couldn't ask for better.
We love coming here! The guests are super respectful of social distancing and the staff as well. Some of the most unique conversation have been started while sitting on the patio. If you’ve never tried Kava before, the staff is extremely knowledgeable and will direct you to try a starter drink with coconut milk to mask the intensity of the drinks. 10/10 recommend!
Loving the Waka Flocka Kava! Made my mouth numb which worked out well for my canker sore. Very friendly kavatenders as well! Took a picture of the Fam and I.
