Review Maudie's Hacienda - Austin

Lauren Moya Ford
Consistent Tex Mex, especially good are the beef crispy tacos. The queso and cheese enchiladas are also really good. Nostalgic flavor. The patio is good for doggies, too

This place is a regular stop for me, at least once a month. Maudie’s is classic Tex-Mex faire that never disappoints. I like to get the Josie’s enchilada plate if I am here for dinner or lunch and the sausage migas when I am here for breakfast. One this visit we tried the queso blanco which, I believe, was a temporary menu item, this was a very runny queso that barely stuck to the chip. Otherwise the enchiladas and fajitas were excellent as always, and the margaritas hot the spot for a Friday evening. The atmosphere here is also pleasant… they have a nice porch, cool artwork on the walls and an intimate feeling due to the imitation hacienda roof. There is much to like about this Maudies location, it is South Austin comfort food. New note - the sausage migas at this location are much better than the lake austin location.

My aunt is a regular here and we decided to join her for her weekly brunch. The staff are amazing and the food was perfectly Tex-Mex. I didn't mean to be so needy but my waitress ran to grab every little thing we asked for without hesitation or even the slightest attitude, she was on her A game and our drinks were never empty! Great place to get together with the family

They’ve got great options for lunch during the week but this was my first visit and I loved the Shrimp Tacos! Parking lot tends to overcrowd but you’ll find a spot. It’s a local favorite that doesn’t disappoint!

Very good menu selection and outstanding food. I've not had a bad meal there. From the fajita salad to tamales El jefe, it is always very good. The place can get loud at peak hours.

Drinks are always solid, food is Tex Mex, parking it's usually good but it's sometimes packed out due lots of places to eat in this strip. Great hpy hr, Prices are decent, All day happy hour on Mondays & place is packed.

Like a well-oiled machine! Sat down and almost immediately had chips and salsa (a bit too hot for us, but good anyway) in front of us. We noticed the tables around us were bussed within moments of being vacated. Our server was attentive and very nice. The food was quite good. We were going to see a movie after dinner and had plenty of time to get there due to the quick service. All in all, it was a very good experience!

We were held up in traffic and arrived late, but got great food and great service. The hostess was warm and welcoming; she found us a table immediately. Tony kept something going on until our food had arrived. Between Tony and one of the bar-tenders, I was served a very nice "margarita azul" ( i.e. w/curacafood wonderfu )l.- wonderful.

If you haven't had Maudies, Sweet Potato Hash for breakfast, its' a must. It's absolutely delicious! Whiched I had taken a photo of my plate. For those vegetarians, you can just skip the bacon. Still delicious Rebecca

This place has a great patio, interesting wall art, and an intimate vibe because of the faux hacienda roof. The mood is very good. This Maudies restaurant offers comfort food from South Austin and has a lot to offer.

Friendly and helpful staff that adds to the positive vibe. Prices are reasonable, and the value for money is excellent. A gem in the dining scene!

I can say this is pretty good food, for probably being the only Hispanic person in there besides the staff😁. But seriously the enchilada sauce is sort of how my grandmother made it and she owned a restaurant on S. Congress. The rice had flavor to it, beans were good, black beans are ok, the Al Pastor tacos were delicious. The meat reminded me of Tocino from the Philippines but still tasted good with cilantro and lime. The waitress was nice and helpful, other than that just a bit noisy but not as bad as other places.

I’ve been coming to this location (& South Lamar) for a hot minute. Both have excellent service, friendly staff, great food and drinks.. I just wanted to put a personal shout out to Saul. He’s been a server at the hacienda location for a while. Sometimes we are treated when I’m there with my girlfriends he entertains us and always is fast and friendly.. sometimes it’s just me and my husband...and today I hosted a baby shower with 15 of my closest coworkers. Everyone had a BLAST. Service wa a impeccable (thank you Saul), food was great, drinks were cold and we had fun. Thank you for taking are of us. We’ll see y’all again real Soon.

This place is excellent. Excellent location for a laid-back date, with a terrific bar and overall good service. This is the ideal Mexican restaurant in Texas.

We had combo fajitas and they were delicious. I added a pork tamale ( loved flavor and texture). Mexican Martini was best I have had. Great service.

When I lived down south I came here all the time. The food is always really good and they have a great happy hour! I would highly recommend this location to anyone who is down south!

It's ok. First off, the chips are delicious, and the salsa's nice too. I got the beef fajitas and the portions were HUGE. We had a two-person portion so the dish costs ~$18-$19 or so; not a bad price at all. The peppers and onions were delicious, full of flavor. The beef, however, was a bit bland. The beef should be bursting with flavor, but was instead carried by the peppers and onions. Ok, not a big deal. I thought the service was a bit on the slow side, but it was Mother's Day and perhaps they were a bit overwhelmed.

Lack of attention. To go orders from the bar lacks attention to detail. The person who ordered the Miga Tacos, are probably pissed they have chalupas. My friend was the one who was bringing the food home. oh, and their migas are not that good.

Mexican Special. I get this everytime I go to Maudies. Order it and this is what you do. The crispy beef taco will come out quickly after you place your order. Do not pick it up to eat it. Crunch it up and mix it with the avocado salad, and tomatoes. Now put a huge chip full of sala on that and go to town. Once you finish that your meal should be out. I always make my enchiladas stewed ground beef, and I suggest you do the same or make one cheese and one beef. The ground beef here is sooo awesome. The flavor of the enchiladas is amazing. Thank you Maudies for many wonderful meals.

Maudie's has great service and excellent value. The tortilla soup is the best in Austin.

Great local neighborhood TexMex venue. Relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff and good food. Have eaten here many times and it's one of my favorites.

Salsa was horrible...dinner portions were tiny...breakfast tacos are decent.

Dave and I stumbled on Maudie's Hacienda here in Austin, Texas one morning after my very first photo shoot. If you live in Austin (or make a trip here), I definitely recommend making a stop here. Their margaritas are delicious- not too sugary or salty. Juuuuust right. ;) I love that they have a "lighter" section and lots of vegetarian options.
