Review Los Jaliscienses - Austin

Ethan Shoe
Had a great experience here. This was one of the only restaurants in the vicinity open past 10pm, and it's definitely worth checking out for a late night snack. I got cheese dip for an appetizer, and it was amazing, though it was a bit spicy to me. I also got the gordita, which was good as well. The service was great, though I did reference my Spanish-speaking friend a couple times to talk to the server.

Really great services and large portions. I really like that it’s right next to my motel as well.

This place has quickly become one of my favorite spots for a great lunch. They always give large portions and the taste is incredible. The staff is also really kind and your food arrives quickly. Love it!! Upon reading other reviews I just want to say: I don’t care what consistency the refried beans are they taste DELICIOUS!

Incredible meal. I got the chicken enchiladas with verde sauce and they were fantastic. Also, I usually skip the rice at Mexican or Tex-Mex places but this one I actually ate, it was that good. Love the quirky building too.

Large portion sizes, fairly authentic dishes, and rapid service times makes this a great place to visit when you cant decide where to eat. My only issues are with decor and lack of vegetarian options. The building itself is unique and provides an interesting atmosphere to eat in. However, the interior design leaves a plethora of exposed cables and mismatched wall decoration. This isn't to say that the building is dirty, on the contrary it was spotless when I visited. The other issue is with the vegetarian options. My partner ordered a meal without the meat, and was served the dish with meat. It took a minute for the issue to correct, but again the service time was very fast so the issue was corrected promptly. The lack of dedicated vegetarian options is rather disappointing.

Third trip here and it's always been great - best avacado salsa I've ever had and the service has always been good Edit - well I keep coming back again and again and all that had changed is the color of the building and they don’t sell sombreros anymoee

Food was delicious as ALWAYS! Everyone was extremely nice and helpful, except our own waitress... Little place, HUGE servings. It's a Must every single time we visit Austin.

I found this place after my decade-long favorite restaurant closed...Taqueria Los Jaliscienses on Airport. So similar to their green sauce, asada tacos and micheladas. I was delighted to find them even closer to my home. Until I received the bill that is. 4 tacos 2 dos equis and 2 micheladas came to almost $50 with tip 🤯 $9 for a michelada. The nachos were $15.99. These are almost Pappasitos prices for hole-in-the-wall atmosphere. I love holes in the wall but not for those prices. So disappointing. There's no way the clientele at the motel it's "connected" to can afford these prices. So weird. If their prices were more affordable surely they would do way more business in that area. It was empty on a Thursday night. I get it... food is expensive but they aren't using cuts of meat like Pappasitos or Lupe. I wanted this to be my new spot 😔

We have been coming here for years...I think I have tried everything on the menu, with the exception of the Lengua...just not there yet..lol...Truly a whole in the wall dive joint with great food and great service...we prefer lunch over breakfast...everything come out hot and fresh...and seriously some of the best green sauce in town...

Our fajita quesadilla was fresh and delicious although some of the meat was chewy. The service was fast and friendly.

A hidden diamond in Austin. I can here looking for tacos and noticed their selection of omelettes. These omelette were packed with flavor and carried the perfect amount of cheese to egg ratio. Every bite packed with the texture, spice, and flavor! This place knows how to make an omelette and I would choose these omelettes over an ihop or Denny’s any day of the year. If you have a chance for some breakfast stop here!

Pros: ENORMOUS 2-3 meal portions. Literally 5+ tortillas per order. Staff are incredibly generous and went out of their way for Margarita supplies. Cons: you'll be forced to eat tons of delicious Mexican food and then be left thinking about your actions and their repercussions.

3 breakfast tacos for 3.19, cant beat that deal! Their corn tortilla is amazing! Dont worry, it doesn't taste like rubber band. The special green sauce they bring out with the food goes great on the taco. I was so hungry, I ate the other two tacos, realizing I forgot to take a picture.

Incredible food and large menu selections. I recommend the Pechuga Feliz which is a grilled chicken breast covered with a Savory cheese sauce with rice and beans and a avocado salad on the side. They always have complimentary chips and three different sauces to choose from. Make sure to try their homemade corn tortillas which are unbelievable. Sweet tea is some of the best I've had in awhile I always get some to go as well.

I came here for lunch and I did not have much time, ordered tacos, my order came out pretty fast within 5 mins and it was delicious. I will need to go back to try out other food items on the menu, I had a good first experience.

Got to say I come from Houston where we have great authentic Mexican food. Very friendly staff and have a old-school jukebox. When I went up for change to put some music on the waitress went up put on some of her favorite songs. All in all I got a torta de fajita and the salsa roja and the salsa verde both had their own unique in bold flavors. I'll definitely go back Have no complaints whatsoever and would definitely recommend

An iconic restaurant located on the Roadway Inn and Suites property near IH 35 and Hwy 290 in central Austin TX. Los Jaliscienses (LJ) has been in business for a long time. This was the first time I have had breakfast here. Normally, we have lunch at this location. We ordered Migas, Chilaquiles, and Pechuga Marinada. LJ makes lunch all day. Chips at breakfast for a slight fee. Three different salsas also given, which provides a great variety of taste. Good coffee and drink selections. The beans were pretty soupy, which shocked us a bit, but was good nonetheless. Homemade tortillas. Delicious.

The food. The atmosphere. The staff. This restaurant located perfectly in front of the Roadway Inn and easy access off 290 and 35. Authentic Mexican fare and even lively karaoke.

WHAT I’VE BEEN LOOKING FOR in a Mexican food place for ages. More rustic, has the home town feel & the food is on point. Like it’s straight of your grandmas kitchen! But the grandmas with the secret recipes... It’s one of the few Mexican places with actually spicy salsa (beyond fresher than Taco Cabana & Papasitos) these people know how to cook, let me tell you. You’ll leave feeling amazing, you didn’t splurge a ton, & you’ll leave with extra for lunch tomorrow! I’m an Austinite & this is now one of my top recommendations to my friends who visit!

From the flavorful enchiladas, to the best tortilla soup I have ever eaten, to the fantastic service, I think this is one of the best Taquerias in town (and that's in a town full of great food). We have even been there when there was a mariachi band! Very authentic.

We ate breakfast here this past Sunday! Funky little joint with very friendly staff! The food was very good and I especially loved the homemade tortillas! Surprised near the end of breakfast by a two-person mariachi band! This is the austin I love!

Doesn’t look promising from the outside, but am so glad we went in. The service was very fast and friendly. Most of all the food was delicious halfway through my plate, I didn’t think I would be able to finish it, but devoured it anyway, was too good

While it looks like a hole in the wall, the service is great, the food is even better. Have enjoyed every trip there (4 times and counting)

Loved the Mariachis, loved the portion size, BUT their beans were spoiled😩😩😩kinda ruined our meal

Very attentive, polite service. Breakfast tacos (bacon, egg, and yellow cheese) a little greasy, but delicious.

Excellent eggs ranchero & shrimp cocktail. Great service! Loved the green sauce, as well.
