Fried food nirvana!! The food is generally pretty good. You can’t go wrong with the fried shrimp and fish plate.
Fried Fish 8/10 - good seasoning, not over cooked. I got the 4 piece with 2 spicy and 2 regular. The spice wasn’t really spicy at all, just a very mild kick. The pieces are decent size too.
Jumbo Fried Shrimp 8/10 - it comes with 3 large butterflied shrimp. Same as the fish, the seasoning and crust were very good. Very generous portions.
Hush Puppies 9/10 - these bad boys appear to be like chips and salsa. They are brought to the table with a standard homemade tartar sauce as well as a green, slightly spicy homemade tartar sauce. They are kind of addictive. They are like fingerling hush puppies?
Service 7/10 - Antonia was our server, and she did a good job being attentive.
Atmosphere 6/10 - nothing fancy, just a typical mom and pop seafood restaurant. It was clean with ample seating.
This place has been around for many years, and judging by the crowd today, will be for many more to come. Go check it out!
My husband and I had a date for lunch and we went to Catfish Parlor. The hush puppies were delicious and the rest of the food was as well. I highly recommend this place and we will be back again. The service was great.
Had a great evening at Catfish Parlour South. Friendly staff, fine atmosphere, clean restrooms. There were a couple folks playing mellow country music, they were pretty good. Food is delicious and prices are good. Shrimp cocktail was perfect. The Catfish tastes great, I had the spicy version. Sides tasted great as well (i had hush puppies sticks, fried okra, mac n` cheese and broccoli, but they have several other options). Such a cool place if you wanna get some Comfort Food.
I called in my order and only waited 3 minutes after arriving for my order to be ready and get cashed out. Everyone was friendly. I ordered the 6 piece catfish dinner and it exceeded my expectations. Food I rate 7.5 out of 10, but the customer service boosted my rating.

Our food was outstanding and the best service from Zoe. I highly recommend this place for the food and pricing, we will definitely be coming back!!! My only regret is that I stuffed my face before I took the picture.
Came to Catfish Parlour for a team lunch. They have a back room that can sit 30+ people. The waitress was very nice and super quick. She took all our drink orders and got appetizers. Our group’s food arrived fairly quickly, you can get the dinner plates with 3 choice of sides and you can make it spicy. I got the jumbo shrimp and fish plate (medium size). The fish was hot and fresh, seasoned well, the sides were good. If you get a salad, it counts as two sides. The peach cobbler was good as well! I would come here again.
We had been here in Austin for at least for 20 years. But had to try it. And we loved the food , and who are we kidding we love everything about it. Most definitely we are going back. They we both liked . Just loved it.

My son has been wanting to take me here for years and I finally got to go today. I love the old-school look of the restaurant and the older music they were playing, it was great.
The menu was fairly straightforward with mostly Seafood options along with some chicken and I believe a chicken fried steak. Plenty of sides to choose from to go with your meal and the ones I chose were very good. The food came out quickly and was hot and flavorful. Staff was very friendly and professional.
One thing I found neat was they brought out hush puppies with different dipping sauces when they seat you. The hush puppies instead of being little round balls are in the shape of mozzarella sticks so I was a little confused at first until my son explained what they were, but they were very good because they weren't all doughy like the little balls can be.
I ended up getting a catfish, jumbo shrimp and oyster platter, all fried. The catfish was very good and Very flavorful. I'm not an oyster fan but I did eat two of them and those were actually pretty good. The jumbo shrimp was amazing but I love shrimp LOL I did not try the desserts which consisted of cobblers, bread pudding and ice cream from what I recall but I would like to try it sometime. I was too full to eat anymore and I had to bring a lot home as it was. Overall I enjoyed the food and the atmosphere and I will return.
Visiting from Colorado because my dad lives nearby and everytime I visit we talk about making some gooood CATFISH.

This time he told me I gotta try the Catfish Parlour. Of course I gotta try it out! He took me here and I immediately loved the vibe of this place. Already knew the food was gana be fantastic. Loved the hushpuppies that are served as soon as you sit down along with whatever those sauces are that they come with (delicious!)

Didn't take much time to decide what to order I immediately went for that delicious catfish and chose to make it SPICY 🔥

Needless to say the fish (and the rest of the food) was amazing. Could have sat here for a while and just absolutely stuffed myself. 5 stars without a doubt! Will absolutely return whenever I'm in the area!
This is tge best fried catfish to be found, not to mention the delicious sides! The leftovers are even outstanding the next day! Kevin and all of the folks there couldn't be nicer! Comfy, casual place with consistently great food!

I ordered a double cheeseburger and I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED AND NEED MORE IN MY LIFE!
BUN WAS FRESH MADE, PATTIES WERE THICK AND JUICY AND ABOVE THE BEST OF THE BEST CAUSE I LOVE ME A BURGER!

The food was delicious! I recommend the spicy catfish, mac n cheese, and the creamy coleslaw. Carmelita was our server and truly kind, she was even nice enough to take our group's picture. They have an array of aeafood. The crawfish were just ok but if your from NOLA or down south it doesn't give "home" vibes. I didnt see a kids menu but im sure one is available.
We had an Amazing experience tonight. I get my kids half the summer and the live in another state. My time is valuable with my kiddos. Travis was our server and gave us some of the best service I've ever had. This place has a great old school vibe and sweet corn fritters and hush puppies are awesome.
This is an Austin mainstay. I’ve been enjoying Catfish Parlour since the late 70’s and the food has never disappointed me. I’ve been here at least a few dozen times. I always get the fried catfish, Mac & cheese and fries. The beer is ice cold and the prices are good for the quality and serving sizes.
Today I took my dad and girlfriend. My dads thinks he’s been here before with my mom but it was my girlfriends first time.
We arrived before the Saturday evening crowds so we got seated immediately. The service was great as usual.
Come hungry or be ready to take home a doggie bag.
I recommend not to fill up on the appetizer hush puppies. It hard not to but save room for the main courses.
I highly recommend Catfish Parlour next time you visit Austin.

Their fried catfish is absolutely the best!!! I've been frequenting this place since about 2010, and their food is consistently delicious!!! Today I had the fried catfish, with a side of fries, macaroni, and rice pilaf. The catfish was the star, the fries were good, and the macaroni was delicious. The rice pilaf, I thought was just ok. I should trade my rice pilaf recipe for their catfish and macaroni recipe. 😁 Stop missing out, and try them out! They don't disappoint.
Believe me that is the first time I ever been to Catfish Parlour in South Austin believe it's definitely worth eating there for sure myself and Good Friends of my take me there it's actually good 👍🏾👍🏾 atmosphere believe me I would like to make it another trip to this special place. Been coming to Catfish Parlor in North Austin for about 50 or since I was a small child. It is sad that that location has closed down, but I am happy this one is open. I judge all other hush puppies by theirs.....they are the best!
