Review Grand Lux Cafe - Austin

Came here for their soft opening and took my mother here for her birthday dinner. The location is gorgeous, they definitely did some great renovations with the place. They are a sister company of Cheesecake Factory, so there are a lot of similarities. The food portion is giant and you will definitely not be able to finish it all. You can share them most of time. They also have an extensive and diverse menu as well. They also do not take reservations, but the restaurant is pretty large and has a good amount of seating, inside and outside. I really love the chicken and waffles for brunch it's massive portions but also delicious. I would recommend that. The Pot Roast Cheese fries are a lot and the meat is tender, but my favorite would be the double stuffed potato spring rolls, it's like mashed potatoes in eggroll form. They are super good and probably not healthy for you, but worth a try. I wasn't too much of a fan of the french dip sandwich however. Their pastas are good and the fish and chips are good as well. The salad is too much for one person, I also wasn't too much of a fan of the southwestern salad, too much going on not much salad. The dessert is where it's at, the strawberry shortcake is amazing, and so is the butter cake. I would completely just come back for dessert. I enjoy the appetizers and the desserts the most each time. I haven't quite found a lunch/dinner entree that is parallel to the other foods.

HUGE portion sizes. My boyfriend and I barely put a dent in it. Same owners as Cheesecake Factory, which is pretty cool. Great food, great atmosphere. Very cool decor, and no wait time at a 8p on a Tuesday, which can’t be said for other restaurants at the Domain. Will definitely visit again. The regatoni was a little greasier than desirable, but still good!

Delicious!!! A variety of great food and desserts!! The seating is a little uncomfortable due to not having full booths but we made it work at the bar section. Is a little too bright in the main room for us. A great place to go and have a good meal with family and friends.

I go at least once a month and try something different each time. Every time I've gone the food has been delicious. They make a lot of fresh items there on site. The prices are reasonable for a date or, to treat yourself. I'm always impressed by the wait staff they are always knowledgeable, as well as friendly. The beignéts are very close to being in New Orleans, they made to order and take 30 minutes so you order them at the start of your meal. I keep going back and, I always recommend.

I love the Grand Lux Cafe! They have a great gluten feee selection. The patio is dog friendly and the waitress brought our Corgi a bowl of water and we did not even ask. The food is great! It is a very nice upscale place! They have the best salad I have ever eaten. Desserts are amazing! The staff is very nice as well.

Upon arrival this building was gorgeous! Valet had just shut down, no big deal, parking was close by. Wait time on a busy Saturday evening at 945P was about 20 minutes, not bad at all. My party & I entertained ourselves. Our hostesses was very polite, as was our waiter. Our waiter, Johnny, was very attentive and suggested we order a larger fried calamari to start. Good idea on Johnny's part, that app lasted but minutes! I ordered a large bowl of Pasta Pomodoro, and it was cooked perfectly! My son ordered the short rib ravioli, but had under cooked pasta. He was unhappy with the texture of the pasta, and went to speak to a manager. The manager was one of the most polite managers I have ever met, and replaced his dish on the spot. He went with fried fish tacos, fries & we closed the out with a biegnets & molten chocolate cake.

Good atmosphere and large selection of food. Loved freshly made Beignets with raspberry sause, whiskey sauce and maple syrup. Delicious!

When we first stepped into the restaurant, we thought "this reminds me of Cheesecake Factory." Later we found out it is actually created by Cheesecake Factory's owner. (no wonder!) We went there for lunch on a weekday around 2pm. It wasn't crowded. All the servers and hosts were very friendly. Lunch Specials menu has everything from salads to sandwiches to pastas and so on. We ordered a Miso Glazed Salmon and an Asian Chicken Salad. Both portions were huge! Both tasted delicious. It's how I would want my cooked salmon. Will come again to try their dinner.

Hidden gem! Salmon three ways was absolutely mouth watering. Ahi tacos were fantastic as well. Everything is made fresh to order. Lava cake takes a while to be made however waiters will inform you before the order is made. I didnt mind waiting however it's about 15 mins if you're short on time.

We enjoyed a casual Sunday brunch. We arrived at 11am and it was not too busy. The food was flavorful but a tad on the expensive side. We ate inside, but they have a cute patio outside.

Loved, loved, loved the place! Great atmosphere, great food, affordable prices and super friendly staff. Service was superb, BTW, the pineapple margarita was incredible. Some pics for your delight.

Very good experience! Chicken and waffles were cooked to perfection and the florentine omelet with hashbrowns was also delicious. Very attentive waiter always checked how things were throughout the entire meal.

Supurb. The food was excellent. The staff was attentive and very pleasant. Highly recommend if you are in the Domain and want an option that gives you options. I had the Chicken Picatte. Desert was also sinfully good.

Service was incredible, the decor was fancy but still had a good casual atmosphere, and the food was spot on. The dishes are a bit pricey but if you're looking for a proper restaurant that is slightly on the fancier side- this is the one. Staff was really friendly and kind and the food didnt take that much time at all even with a group of people (6). The reservations were a bit finicky bc you need at least 7 ppl but they were gracious enough to give us one after several confusing phone calls. Make sure to bring your appetite bc the portions at this restaurant are no joke. (very very large)

This place is gorgeous! The food and staff are attentive and very knowledgeable. It is on the expensive side but you knew that since your in the Domain. This is a great place for an anniversary dinner, special occasions, or anything that would benefit from the lovely decor and food

I stopped in here to wait for the rest of my friends to arrive downtown. We only ordered appetizers and dessert but it was fantastic! I had the coconut limeade juice which was VERY yummy. Our waitress and even the host that walked us to our seats were so friendly. I think our waitress was named Morgan. She was awesome. We ordered the crispy Thai shrimp and chicken roll. She told us to make sure we added the lettuce, carrots, and mints to it then dip it in the sauce. GAME CHANGER! My girlfriend got the empanadas and she loved them. Then we finished up with pumpkin cheesecake.

I got the Madeira Chicken and it knocked my socks off. Perfect in every detail. (Sauteed Chicken Breast Topped with Asparagus, Mozzarella and Our Fresh Mushroom-Madeira Sauce. Served with Mashed Potatoes). The chicken cut effortlessly with a fork. Asparagus was tender but not overdone. The sauce was magic. Mashed potatoes had perfect texture and crazy good flavor. Portions were large. I've seen some older reviews complaining about service. Evidently they've corrected that. We were pampered from start to finish. Or maybe it matters what time you go. We went at 5pm on a Friday. Five of us. Seated right away. So early is probably best if possible.

Really good food, consistently. Going with our toddler has mixed results based on his mood, but can't fault the restaurant for that. Large groups may have a bit of a wait, but we've never had to wait more than ten minutes as long as we're OK with sitting outside. Parking can be a nightmare; the parking garage is a bit of a schlep if you can't get Street parking. But the food is good and service is consistent. Order the beignets for brunch right when you sit down. They are worth the wait.
