Best Margherita pizza in Austin with some good texture and flavor for the dish. The fresh basil right on top of it gives a little good healthier flavor and twist as well as char of the crust. Grade: A+

Best Pizza in Austin! A wonderfully cozy restaurant, which that sort can be hard to find in Austin. Start with a superbly selected meat or cheese board. Then order a pizza with a wonderfully bubbly and crisp crust. Make sure to drink plenty of wine! Though, I wish they had a few more topping choices, but I'm always satisfied by the pizza I order. And the desserts are always on point. They also have one of my favorite wines on the menu, Cesari Jema.

Upscale brick oven pizzeria without the pretentious attitude commonly found in these establishments. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff friendly. We sat at the bar, and even though we only ordered Cokes to drink with our meal, the bartender was extremely attentive. Often bartenders turn a cold shoulder if you're not ordering alcohol, so l noticed and appreciated the service. As others have stated, make reservations!

The most delicious & beautiful pizza I’ve ever had. Excellent service and the location was tiny but intimate. But the pizza...the pizza was amazing and now I don’t think I’ll be able to eat pizza anywhere else ever again!

Brick oven pizza with a toasty bottom and mozzarella cheese salad with balsamic dressing - all amazing food and the service was excellent. Reservations are needed after 6:30-7:00pm but that’s okay!

The Backspace was one of our first dates, and it's been a few dates since. It has been an excellent choice of venue for such an occasion each time. Service is great, wine selection is sophisticated, and the ambiance is very nice. Additionally, the food is very tasty, somewhat reasonably priced, and presented in an aesthetically appealing manner. I'll be back again I am sure, and would recommend this venue to anyone for comparable occasions.

Let me just tell you! We love this place! We had our engagement here 2 years ago and we just came on a random date night and they brought us a special appetizer and said thanks for having our engagement party here! They take notes and go above and beyond to impress! #backspace #bestspace

The Backspace is a must-visit for pizza and wine lovers! We enjoyed their happy hour at the bar, and the wine was fantastic. The pizza was absolutely exquisite. We went at happy hour and had an awesome time. Make sure to ask for chili oil and red pepper flakes to add a nice kick to the bite. Can't wait to go back!

Wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that it perhaps was the best Neapolitan Pizza I have had in Austin. I tried the Margherita Pizza and it was delish.

A cozy rustic intimate restaurant with a nice atmosphere. Love the brick oven. Seating tables are a little too close but it is a small space so to be expected. Short dining hours but worth experiencing.

The up leveled wine (sangiovese) was great when paired with the complex pizza here. You'll note that the cheese and sauce is gourmet... so it's not really a kids pizza place. It's more like a wine tasting /pizza pairing experience. The people couldn't be nicer and it's a welcome contrast to the seedy bars nearby.

Cute little place with a great happy hour across its antipasti selection. The meatballs were devine! Really enjoyed the buratta too. Didn’t enjoy my pizza as was overwhelmingly herb tasting and the beer wasn’t great but it’s a charming and busy restaurant definitely worth a visit even if just for 5 portions of meatballs!

10/10! In town for the F1 event and popped in for dinner. I love me some brick oven pizza. Backspace, for sure, has the recipe nailed for service, atmosphere and pizza!! Crust - nailed. Sauce - perfect. Toppings - generous. My buddy and I sat at the bar and had great service. If I'm ever back in town, I will definitely be back!! Everything about this place is excellent. Thanks!!

Come for the atmosphere, stay for the pizza. It’s cozy and quaint inside. Sit at the bar right in front of the pizza oven. Watch your pizza be made by hand in front of you. Share a pizza and a bottle wine. It’s sure to be a great date night with yourself or a friend.

We came here for dinner on New Years Eve and had a wonderful time. The setting was very intimate and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We ordered meat balls and pepperoni pizza and they were both delicious. Definitely recommend trying Backspace!

Cute little place. Came for dinner on a Sunday evening. Even without the reservation, we were able to find a spot for 4. It was busy. The pizza was very good and so was the burrata we ordered. Also ordered hazelnut chocolate budino and was very good.

Fantastic spot, great food, incredible service. A refuge from the 6th St madness. Great for a date night with your boo. Luke took amazing care of us, he's very knowledgeable of all the wines and is very personable. My wife and I love it and will keep coming back.

The Backspace has been our favorite restaurant in Austin for years now. Of all of the Neapolitan-style restaurants we've tried locally and while traveling, only The Backspace in Austin and 2 Amys in Washington DC are the only ones that taste like the best pizza in Naples. The clarity and intensity of flavor in their pizza sauce makes the pizza, in my opinion; you have to use excellent quality ingredients to get that flavor in such a simple sauce. I had the margherita and my husband had the pepperoni americano (both delicious!), and we loved both of the desserts on their dessert menu. It was a bit busier this time than when we've visited in the past since we went later in the evening than we typically do. My favorite time to go is for an early dinner when not all of the tables are full, yet, and there aren't many people waiting for bar seating. Nonetheless, even when the restaurant was busy, dinner here still felt cozy and conversations felt intimate (whether you're going for date-night intimate or catching-up-with-friends intimate).

The Backspace is a great pizza/Italian restaurant right off 6th tucked behind their sister restaurant Parkside. It’s a smaller restaurant so I’d recommend getting reservations early or see if you can snag some seats at the bar. The ricotta appetizer was delicious as was the wine and the pepperoni pizza. So much flavor packed in to their pizza and great dough. I’d recommend getting a few pies to share for the table. Thanks The Backspace for a great evening.

This is a great little bar and restaurant. Small, but they serve good pizza, and have a wonderful staff and atmosphere. Not too expensive especially given your in a large city downtown area, right next to 6th. You'll need reservations for a table but not for the bar.

I just wanted some good local pizza that wasn't a chain. This place was perfect. I was there during happy hour and the pizza was incredible. Hit the spot, and the staff were very friendly. Highly recommend.

Pizza was fantastic! The server explained to us that nearly everything they cook is within the wood fired oven. Great, small atmosphere.
