Evangeline Cafe - Austin - Photo album

From the outside it’s easy to overlook in a nondescript shopping center but once you go inside you are transported to a Louisiana hangout. The food is nicely prepared and the staff is super friendly. PoBoy is big with tender shrimp. Gumbo and Étouffée are nicely seasoned and not pasty like I’ve had
Food was good. Was comparable to places I've been to in Louisiana.
My husband and I had the shrimp po boy lunch special. I had the fries and he had the red beans and rice. The sandwiches were very good, although they could have had a few more shrimp on them. The beans and rice was tasty with just enough spice. The fries were pretty average. The beer selection was l
It's the closest thing to feeling like I am back home in Louisiana...best and most consistent Gumbo in Austin! Curtis runs a great operation. The service is always on spot and super friendly!!
Evangeline is a place I remember to visit only occasionally, but the food is excellent, the atmosphere cozy, and on weeknights the music is lively. Did I mention the food is excellent? From the Louisiana hot wing appetizer to the Hank Williams platter, it’s all authentic Cajun and creole. The crawfi
We always enjoy our meal when we come to Evangeline's, the fried pickles were one of our favorites in our most recent visit, chip style and very thin and crispy they were awesome. The cocktail sauce here is one of my favorite things, I get it every time I visit. Definitely recommend for the food, th
My friends and I ate there today and the food was absolutely delicious!!! I'm kinda suedo vegetarian so I passed on jambalaya and some of the other yummy Creole dishes I used to eat. I went for the fish mix dish with dirty rice and a salad. First of all, when it was brought to the table it looked s
A special place in South Austin filled with hospitality and big easy ambiance wrapped up in old Austin vibes. Service is fantastic and food is tasty and hot. Seats are always filled and that is a sign of a well managed dining establishment.
Super thin onion rings were awesome . Excellent Shrimp po boy and pecan dessert was delicious . Great service and quirky little spot!
This place has been on our long over due to do list. Finally had dinner here on Saturday evening. Pretty small restaurant but they definitely use up all the space they can. We had a small wait as they were pretty busy when we arrived. We started with some crispy fried frog legs which were better tha
This is definitely a gem! The food was really good. The hostess and the servers were really nice and made the visit all the more worthwhile now. I highly recommend you try the shrimp pasta! It was definitely a banger.
Got the catfish, which was really good, but their desserts were way too sweet. Had to try their alligator bites, because I've never had alligator before! It's true what they say - "Tastes like chicken." Their jambalaya is also really yummy, and I might get that the next time I go.
