Beehive Augusta Tavern

Beautiful spot on the river with a wonderful view. We lunched on the upper level deck, sweet tea was really good, salad topped with chicken breast was moist and tender with house made ranch dressing excellent. Chicken tacos tasty, filling and Really good 👍. House specialty Honey Pie heavenly. Service was spot on. Definitely will do again.

The place is charming, historic and inviting with beautiful views of the Augusta riverfront along the Ohio river. Having visited Augusta on multiple occasions, we discovered that reservations are hard to come by, and perusing the menu on the Beehive website certainly raises expectations. Having secured a reservation, we were promptly greeted and seated by our friendly hostess, followed quickly by an equally friendly server. Drink and appetizer orders were taken and delivered quickly. Highly recommend the sausage stuffed mushrooms. My partner ordered the house filet (medium), which comes with burblanc sauce, asparagus and fingerlings. The steak arrived well done, which was disappointing. I ordered the Curry fried chicken, which did not arrive with the filet. I was told there was an "issue" and that it was being remade, which delayed my service another 10 minutes. I did enjoy this entree and would recommend it. However, the sum of our experience is that the Beehive did not live up to the hype. To be fair, we were one of the early patrons (4 pm) as this was the best we could get with 2 day's notice. Early service is often inconsistent in the industry as a whole, in my experience. The kitchen staff needs to "hit it's stride". So we're willing to give the place another try with (hopefully) better results at a future time.
