Great service and even better food! I would highly recommend The Conductor and grit bowl and coffee was on point loved it overall!
The Whistle Stop Is my new favorite breakfast joint. The food & service was excellent! The staff is inviting and it was a great visit. I’m excited to try it for lunch one day.
This place was sooooooooooo good I wanted to propose to the chef. I was so in love with my meal that I might have shed a tear or two. I could have hugged each and every last employee in the building. The food is a must taste and the customer service was phenomenal. There is no other place I would like to dine other than here. Bring the office, the family, the neighborhood, and the church. I wish there were more than 5 stars.
This place was recommended by the staff at the Metro Diner on Broad Street, as I was looking for something a bit more substantial to eat for breakfast that morning. I am glad that I followed up on the recommendation; the experience was wonderful! Not only are there choices on the menu that are different from the usual breakfast fare that you will find at other places, but everything was prepared well and the service was exemplary. Our waitress Nisha told us that this is a family-owned business that has been open for almost a year. From the decor to the obvious attention to customer service, the dedication by all these folks shows. The restaurant is small but cozy, clean, and lavishly decorated with murals on the outside walls. There are flower pots and a swing on the porch in front, even including railroad themed restrooms. As it is located on the corner of 6th and Green Streets, it is quite literally right beside the tracks as the railroad crossing sign in front of the restaurant indicates. I can't recommend this place highly enough for breakfast or lunch - they are closed for dinner. I will certainly be back!
We loved this place. The staff were all very nice and genuine. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with the fried chicken on it (I forget the name), but it was very good. I also got a side of the Pancake Hushpuppies because I just had to try this novel idea! They were good, but too sweet for me. The others I was with really liked them though.
If I lived here, this would be a regular breakfast place!
Great menu, vegan-friendly, and nice staff members. Cute little porch to sit outside and TVs to watch games if you like. I'd recommend you give them a try. They also deliver via Waitr. I had the vegan sloppy joe: a little vinegar heavy but mixed it with the sauce that came with the fried pickles and it made it better. Hubby had the fried chicken and pancake hush puppies: chicken was good.
We were looking for a place to grab a quick breakfast. A search for "breakfast" near downtown offered the WSC and one of the chain restaurants. We were seated almost immediately and there were a couple more empty seats. I'm glad we chose the WSC for every reason except the quickness. Their t-shirts say something like, 'Fast service no matter how long it takes!' That is no joke. I would go back with the expectation that it will take an hour.
Today was my second visit to The Whistle Stop Cafe in the past two weeks. The friendly staff, quaint atmosphere and good food with reasonable prices will keep this restaurant on my "places to go" list. Added bonus: the train came past and blew its whistle! Location, location, location.
I ordered the country fried steak breakfast and my husband got the veggie omelet. The difference in size between the two was staggering. My country fried steak was enough to feed 2 people a normal size meal, or one really hungry football player. On the other hand, the veggie omelet was not much bigger than the scrambled eggs pictured next to my country fried steak...
Value-wise, the price was a really great value for my country fried steak, but probably too high for the omelet based on the smaller size. And the steak definitely hit the spot for some nice southern cooking with a perfect crisp.
I'm probably being a little picky since this is a hole in the wall old dinery type place, but I was saddened by the state of the tile on the floor... It looked like the grout hadn't been scrubbed in years, and that is why this review is only 4 stars.
