First time trying this place was on my birthday 12/9 and I’m so happy I did. The food and service was amazing. Our waitress was Reggie and when I tell you she is top tier. She was very attentive and made very good recommendations when we couldn’t decide what we wanted. If haven’t visited this spot you should. You definitely won’t regret it. ❤️

Valet parking was quick and easy. We were seated right away at a booth. The food was hot and had plenty of flavor in it. The drinks weren't overpriced either! The service was good as always and it's a plus that they don't automatically add gratuity to the bill.

A very nice patio for outdoor dining in Virginia-Highland. Fontaine's Oyster House is a casual spot to grab a nice meal and cocktails. The patio is in the rear of the building but is decorated nicely with lots of beautiful plants. The oysters were fresh, and the food was good - we had a catfish basket, a grouper basket, and the shrimp and grits.
Two things per the New Orleans food snob in me: 1 - the gumbo is described as tomato based (hmmm...) so I went with the Lobster Bisque instead, and 2 - the shrimp & grits had tail-on shrimp (why?).

From the door man to the chefs to the cleaning staff to the waitress... Impeccable dining experience. Reggie went above and beyond to make my first experience in Atlanta absolutely magical. So attentive & loving, she reminds me of my own auntie! This spot is an absolute must if you're visiting Atlanta or are a resident. Unforgettable night and I'm so grateful Reggie took care of us. Will return every time

This one of my favorite places to eat at. It is a casual oyster bar that reminds me of some of the eateries in New Orleans.
I typically get the oyster sampler and blackened alfredo with salmon, and it is outstanding! The spinach and artichoke dip is also very good. They have a nice patio out back, and friendly wait staff.

The surrounding location alone is captivating in its own right which sets the tone for the atmosphere inside. Plenty of new things to try all within walking distance, but It is Atlanta, so the parking is first come first serve. The lighting at the bar and tables is just right and the heated patio is comfortable too. I love the food here. Oysters any way you like them and the bar is full of variety.

Most of the food couldn’t touch the table fast enough before we ate it up. The fried okra, the oysters, everything was splendid. I appreciated all the flavors. For the mussels, just put the bowl up to your mouth and drink the sauce because it is that delicious.

Have to give this place 5 stars. Great staff, great food, great menu. We came at 12P on a weekend right when they opened, and we’re treated with prompt service and fresh food. The raw oysters were great and high quality, as was the fried grouper. Hush puppies were some of the best I’ve had, felt like we were near the ocean!

Great restaurant oyster special on Tuesday is killer.
Our waitress Alex was also really good!

O... M... G...!!! Is all I can say about this Great food, great service, great atmosphere restaurant. I have been on the search for oysters that can compare to one popular restaurant in New Orleans, Louisiana. I tried the Oysters Sampler, and was very satisfied. I think the NOLA Oysters and the Crab & Bacon Oysters were my favorites of the three choices (Rockefeller Oysters were the third choice) . I must say they have THE BEST lobster Mac and cheese I have ever tasted. It is not just little sprinkles of lobster here and there. The fried okra is DELICIOUS, as if your Grandma cooked it, per our Waiter. He was RIGHT! There were several other items on the menu that I will need to return for in order to try. I brought back home for my husband and son the Cajun Chicken with red beans & rice and broccoli, and the Shrimp N Grits. They both smelled very good. And both of my guys were satisfied. My friend also ordered the Oysters Sampler. We agreed on our preferred oysters. She also had the Crab Cake as a Starter. She let me taste, and it seemed as if they already squeezed the lemon on there. That is preferred to be done on our own. In the meantime, the atmosphere was very welcoming as well. Our Waiter was Daniel B. He was the best. Friendly, welcoming, helpful, pleasant. A great person to have on your staff. Thanks for your service Daniel B. Thanks for your hospitality Fontaine's Oyster House. I'll be back!

We were told the Uber ride from midtown was well worth the effort and they were right! We ate outside on the New Orleans style back porch - beautiful. The building is an old warehouse with amazing architectural features. We got the po' boys and it was truly some of the best seafood we've ever had. It is New Orleans style so it has a little kick, but I can't have spicy foods and it was fine. Red beans and rice = yummo!!! Highly recommend!

This place has some of the best Seafood I've ever tasted. It was fresh, hot, and tasty. Our server "Adam" was very great, and polite. Me and the lady enjoyed this classic establishment. I can't wait to come again..#RellzWay
Tanya Greer Thrasher
I thought everything was really good, but felt like the crab cakes were missing something. They did put my lobster roll in a tortilla for me...which was heaven on earth! Our server was very friendly, personable, and fast! We will be back! Job well done overall!
Susan Gibson Prozzo
David searched for good seafood restaurants in Atlanta and this came up.....so glad it did!! I had the grilled jumbo shrimp and the hush puppies, absolutely delicious!! David had his all-time favorite, jambalaya, and was very impressed with how good it was. The service and the food was well worth it!! I highly recommended it and will definitely go back.
Anthony Gagliardi
Loved this place!!! GOOD seafood, plain, simple, served straight at you...no fancy stuff, good food, great prices..Plus you get some New Orleans flavor, right here in the ATL. Make sure to have a Hurricane, they are better than Pat O'Brien's!!!
Gary Slates
IDE like to think that it doesn’t take much to impress me but it does. I love their calamari and shrimp. My wife loves the lobster bisque.
Janine J Joseph
Hands down the best oysters I've ever had...they shell them as they are ordered and the fresh taste is a guarantee. Every Tuesday oysters are $7 a dozen... yumm!! And the service is always friendly and efficient. My favorite server is Franco- do yourself a favor go and enjoy!
Kenya Renee
Great food! Love the patio area as well. One of my fave places in the city to get oysters..
Christine Hollowell
The calamari was great and the service was top-notch the drinks were okay and decently priced but the only thing that Disturbed me was when a roach showed up on my cup after I finished my drink we set at the bar but I think they're just needs to be better cleaning habits you should never see you know roaches or any type of bugs behind the bar that usually means that there's things that are not being properly clean that creates those type of pests to come in I worked in food service so I know what it stems from but overall it's a great atmosphere
Joseph Varner
It was great had the best waiter Adam made sure we had everything at all times!!!! Superior service!!!!!!
Andrea Wood-Wilson
The food is delicious and well seasoned. Each time visiting has been a treat to my taste buds. Today I had the oyster sampler..so gggoooddd!
Karen McCormick Rodriguez
Drinks were great! Oysters were HUGE and delicious! Tried the lobster roll and it was the best sandwich ever. My husband had a bite and still hasn't stopped talking about it.
Will Ellis
We came through on a day trip from Montgomery. The catch that day (Mahi) was great. I think our server's name was Adam. He was awesome too.
Scott Sadler
Folks come here for the oysters, late nite bites (2:30am close) and drinks -- but Fontaine's is much more. Blackened, fried or broiled seafood of all types. Killer specials, such as half price oysters or crab legs, depending on the night. Outstanding crab cakes! Flavorful and spicy jambalaya. Delightful hush puppies. Well crafted cocktails. And dine on the porch out back for a quieter experience. You won't regret it.
Krista Toy
Great service. Great food. The atmosphere is quaint and cozy with the exposed brick and New Orleans feel. I usually go on Tuesdays for their $7 dozen oyster deal. This last visit along with the oysters I tried the fried grouper basket for the first time and it was incredible! Usually I get the crab cakes and they are really good as well.
Tangela Gregory
For my first visit i Loved the atmosphere and the service was awesome. I had the crab cake dinner, not bad but different, everyone's crab cakes are. I really couldn't enjoy myeslf because my hormones are off because im expecting. I definitely will return to eat some oysters and drink cocktails.
Brian Hightower
I was so excited to come to Fontaine's but I was quickly disappointed! The service was very slow and it was not busy. We had to send back the calamari. It was horrible. The lobster bisque was off as well. The oysters were good but not good enough to bring me back
Erin Brewer Murray
The best atmosphere for date night or an evening with friends. The cocktails are superb, the roasted oysters and the shrimp basket are our favorites. Love the cozy heated outdoor dining of the balcony.
Leslie Stickney
The crab cake was si fresh, and little filler. The best that I have had after leaving the Norrh.
Ky Williams
It was an amazing experience I love seafood and it was on point I will be returning soon
Bertha Broughton
Great place I Love the atmosphere and great service
Sheldon Blumenfeld
My favorite place to get the best oysters and enjoy a great time with my Best Friend, Henry Brent!! Looking forward to next time at Fontaine's!!

Cyndi DeVane Roberts
Always one of our favs but I wanted to give a shout out to our wonderful server Gregory. He was A-mazing!!
Henrietta Smith
Everything was just absolutely delicious I had the Blue Point oysters alone with blackened shrimp and scallops over a nice gorgeous salad
Jessica
Hubby and I stopped here just for drinks and oysters on the padio, planning to get dinner after -somewhere a little less casual. As we gawked at others entrees going by, we decided to stay for our main course. OMG the food far exceeded expectations, my sides (even the kale greens ) were to die for! Highly recommend!!!
Vlgbuddy
Awful. The WORST service i have ever received! Be very careful with your bill. Bartender will over charge you!!!

Go for the Soups. Fontaine’s is an oyster bar in the popular Virginia-Highlands area. They have different food specials most nights of the week.

We were there on the night that half price snow crab is offered. We had the snow crab which was fine and seemed very fresh.

The cocktails were good, but not remarkable enough to get the recipe.

The highlights were the soups. The lobster bisque and the oyster stew were both wonderful and great on a cold day.
Honeybrown_30294
Not what I expected. We viewed the menu online and had decided on what to get, But when we get there, some of the items were not on there. Then when you order a seafood basket, it does'nt come with fries. For $14 for 3 shrimps and 4 oysters without a side is not good. I rather take my money to Bay Breeze when you can get a big platter of food and sides for the same price.
Eric
Not Kid Friendly. The restuarant is an OK restuarant but it is not kid friendly. The seafood just taste ordinary.
Robert Williams
Lousy : weak service, very small half shell oysters.fried seafood taste frozen. Food very pricey, very small portions.
DVSMiC
Pros: UNBELIEVABLE CRAB LE.... Pros:
UNBELIEVABLE CRAB LEGS! Not usually an oyster fan but they are great here too. Service is good.

Cons:
drinks are hit or miss (as it relates to potency) and the tables are too small for the copious amount of crab legs I like to enjoy here. The wait for setting can be tough too
Tracey Trammell
Solid Seafood & Great Atmosphere. This place was once again satisfying. The seafood was fresh and tasty, the happy hour prices were great (50% off Snow Crab Legs & Raw Oysters) and the atmosphere was alive and well. Always a solid spot around the Emory neighborhood
Logan Rayne
Greatly good food! Server was awesome but the bartender is horrible!!! Went we got here it took the bartender 10mins to poor 1 beer! Our appetizer came out before we even got the beer. Asked to get the braves game on which happened but then it got switched to soccer. Asked to get the other tv turned back on to the game which was no problem untill that tv too got switched to soccer. Asked to have it turned back and that never happened.

Ripoff. The food is good but don't order mixed drink without exactly what you want as the liquor in the drink. They water down the drinks & claim they GAVE us "CROWN ROYAL". It wasn't crown as neither of us like crown as it is too sweet. Very little whiskey in the drink & it sure wasn't CROWN ROYAL.

Undecided.... Stopped in for a quick and early lunch and had the place to myself. Even on a bright and sunny day, the inside is somehow dark and smelling of smoke... maybe not a bad thing, just not expected.
I went out back to the absolutely fabulous deck that I could probably spend hours drinking and eating on if I lived close by.
For lunch went with the Oyster PoBoy and chose the red beans & rice as my side. Oysters were very good, fried just the right amount of time... crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside and dressed with a nicely spicy remoulade. Also very good was the beans and rice, very nice spice level and depth of flavor... not something I take for granted with this sometime very plain dish.
About my only concern was the lack of a crusty french roll for this poboy... the hoagie roll was a substitution embarrassing to anyplace trying to be cajun or creole. Finally, on the fence about if 5 of these tasty oysters on a Poboy constitutes a reasonable value or not... if the bread had been decent I'd have probably let the oyster count slide...
Sheepswool
Enjoyable. Got there in time for some decent drink prices and half of crab legs for an appetizer. Gumbo was tasty, raw oysters were good and my cajun catfish po boy was very good. I came in with minimal expectations but was pleasently suprised.
Arcan Hajer
Nothing special here. If this is the only restaurant open in Virginia highlands and i didnt own a car i would eat here again.

Where to get good raw oysters in town?. When eating raw oysters you want to keep a few things in mind. Probably the most important is volume. Do they do enough volume to keep the oysters always coming in and going out the door, or do they keep them around for a while? At Fontaine's, this clearly isn't an issue. They do a tremendous business in oysters, and the price is right!

In addition to oysters, the do a solid version of the po-boy, as well as a good red beans and rice. The nightly beer specials are also an excellent deal.
Jchambers1221
Wonderful 21st birthday!. We had 12 guest for dinner last night where all had a GREAT time from 10 years to mid 50's. The 21 year old enjoyed all the raw oysters (which were HUGE) he could eat, on to the shrimp bisque (still craving 1 more bite) to the Muffaletta sandwich. Oh I forgot the creamy peanut butter pie the waitress surprised him with. Oops did I mention the very reasonable priced beer???
Awesome time by all. And my bill was less than $150.. remember there were 12 eating.. We will be back very soon!

Good food - mussels, oysters, crab legs, scampi, and key lime pie - all good. Good service and fun eve.
Mike Cocroft
I usually meet a friend here for lunch and have enjoyed it everytime. I always get the 2 item fried platter and everything is hot and good. Also plenty of sweet tea.
Rich Moss
Great, fresh seafood. Great atmosphere, doesn't get better than this!
Christine
Terrible, Terrible, Terrible. WOW, This is the worst meal I've eaten out in awhile. We can here because I was craving oysters, which we started off with. These were fine.
The really disappointing food was in the entrees. I ordered an oyster po boy. The oysters were fine, but the bread was cheap and flavorless, the lettuce was watery and the "remoulade" basically tasted like mayonnaise. My husband's dish was even worse. He ordered creole. For $14.50 he received a plate of white rice, poured over with canned tomato sauce, 2 shrimp and 2 scallops. No spice, no peppers, nothing else. It was God-awful. Not to mention insulting.
Also ordered a Manhattan. I'm pretty sure the bartender put grenadine in it. Wow. Wow is really all I can say.
Bianca R
Good food, loved the lobster bisque and fried scallop poboy. Oysters sampler was good. Service was so-so
Jim
Old Fave. This is my favorite New Orleans restaurant in Atlanta following the death of Huey's. A few things are hit or miss, but it's good overall, and the stuff that's good is REALLY good. The seafood jambalaya is especially good.
Anna Caro
Dirtyyy oysters!. I went there with my roommate this past weekend and to start off we each ordered salads! they were both very yummy! we decided to split the rockafella oysters and with every bit there was a crunch...either the spinach they use or the oysters just weren't clean it was disgusting! I still cant believe we actually paid $11 dollars for those...never again!
Fp
Spotty. Calamari was decent but the dipping sauce was terrible. Ask for tartar sauce instead. Salmon was quite good but the Jambalaya was really awful... in watery sauce. (Probably used the same calamari sauce.) Not even close to the jambalaya I've had in New Orleans. The dessert selection that night was unimpressive, so we passed. Good beer specials and a very nice patio setting. Will probably go back, sans the calamari sauce and jambalaya.
Donna Barnes
FONTAINE'S IS FANTASTIC. Always a great atmosphere and great food. Service is the best. Bobby Garrison is the greatest and my friends and I come back just to see him!
JVC
On the Fence.... OK, the service was great...the food was good...but some things scared me as a person in the restaurant business...Having a group of 4 guys standing over and talking to the guy shucking your fresh oysters while all were chain smoking and blowing it out directly over your food is a bit alarming. If there was a barrier or they were more than two feet away...maybe..or if I was wasted, then who cares...right? Calamari was good but the dipping sauce was like a watery soup...I had the Poboy and it had 2 shrimp and three small scallops...but was good. The other half had steamed crab and if you screwed that up then you shouldn't be in business...if it wasn't for the server we might of made it a quicker bite. Would we go back...sure, but for drinks at the bar or on the deck...after all it is what it is...a bar!
The Starving Husband
Bloody Mary's with Oysters!!. Great Bloody Mary's and any style Oysters you want. Came in on a Hungover Sunday brunch crowd, and left prepped for another night of fun. It was Superbowl Sunday too so the place was kind of dead. Went in another Sunday a few weeks later and it was packed to the gills.

I recommend highly!!!!!!!!

Great Spot. Anytime I'm in Highlands my night will start at Fontaine's. The Cajun Burger is inexpensive and one of the best burgers in town.
Youngfoodie
Great Nawlins food. I love this place. It is better than the similiar, but pricier counterparts. Their oyster specials makes is worth going there for happy hour, even if it takes me 30 mins to get there.
Ms Mimi
Used to be Our Favorite Thursday Night joint. They used to have Half off Crab legs and 2 dollar 420 brews every Thursday. Life hasn't been the same without it. Try their Jambalaya and Peanut Butter Pie. Verry nice.
Counselor Girl
Great experience. Good food and great service. I was pleased with the dining experience. We had a tremendous young lady as a server who was great with my grandsons.
Food In Atlanta
I’ve always liked the atmosphere inside Fontaine’s Oyster Bar as it reminds me of an old-timey beach bar where sailors might hang out. Of course sailors don’t hang out there, as far as I am aware, but they do serve up some delicious seafood, and especially delicious oysters. The inside seating section is not very large, and the bar takes up most of the room. It’s pretty dark inside even though they have nice windows opening up at the front of the restaurant. I prefer to sit outside because it’s much more spacious, and even in the winter they heat the outside seating area. They recently got rid of their smoking policy, so there is no smoking in the bar at any time. This makes the restaurant much cleaner and more kid friendly. You can still tell it’s been smoked in for the past 30 or more years. On the weekends, Fontaine’s Oyster Bar becomes a happening spot, and you can find a bar full of twenty somethings imbibing delicious cocktails. If you haven’

Even though the po’ boy here at Fontaine’s Oyster House are fantastic, the oysters here comes with a fantastic price tag but the uncleanliness of it is a major turnoff. Hopefully they will do a better job at cleaning oysters in the future.
DineWithDani
what makes Fontaine's cool to me is its approach. It's less like a seafood restaurant and more like a bar that serves seafood. That's largely due to it's dimly lit, hole in the wall atmosphere
The Quick And Dirty Dirty
...a steaming hot plate of Oysters Rockefeller a martini! Sounds snobby to you? It isn't. Cozy up to the bar and order a martini nice dirtydirty (you know that's how we roll) and some hot Oysters Rock: oysters on the half-shell topped with creamed spinach, three cheeses bread crumbs . So freaking delicious, it isn't. even. FUNNY! Here's a snapshot of Slick my order from Chops in Buckhead on Tuesday night: oysters rockefeller @ chops Um yum! They are always amazingly delicious no matter where you get them (I mean, how could you go

Last weekend I was invited to a complimentary meal at Fontaine's Oyster House, a restaurant I've walked past many times but had never tried before. As I'm not really into the bar scene, I was pleased that they offer patio seating on the long, communal pat
