We were told the Uber ride from midtown was well worth the effort and they were right! We ate outside on the New Orleans style back porch - beautiful. The building is an old warehouse with amazing architectural features. We got the po' boys and it was truly some of the best seafood we've ever had. It is New Orleans style so it has a little kick, but I can't have spicy foods and it was fine. Red beans and rice = yummo!!! Highly recommend!
This place has some of the best Seafood I've ever tasted. It was fresh, hot, and tasty. Our server "Adam" was very great, and polite. Me and the lady enjoyed this classic establishment. I can't wait to come again..#RellzWay
Hubby and I stopped here just for drinks and oysters on the padio, planning to get dinner after -somewhere a little less casual. As we gawked at others entrees going by, we decided to stay for our main course. OMG the food far exceeded expectations, my sides (even the kale greens ) were to die for! Highly recommend!!!
Go for the Soups. Fontaine’s is an oyster bar in the popular Virginia-Highlands area. They have different food specials most nights of the week.
We were there on the night that half price snow crab is offered. We had the snow crab which was fine and seemed very fresh.
The cocktails were good, but not remarkable enough to get the recipe.
The highlights were the soups. The lobster bisque and the oyster stew were both wonderful and great on a cold day.
Pros: UNBELIEVABLE CRAB LE.... Pros:
UNBELIEVABLE CRAB LEGS! Not usually an oyster fan but they are great here too. Service is good.
Cons:
drinks are hit or miss (as it relates to potency) and the tables are too small for the copious amount of crab legs I like to enjoy here. The wait for setting can be tough too
Solid Seafood & Great Atmosphere. This place was once again satisfying. The seafood was fresh and tasty, the happy hour prices were great (50% off Snow Crab Legs & Raw Oysters) and the atmosphere was alive and well. Always a solid spot around the Emory neighborhood
Enjoyable. Got there in time for some decent drink prices and half of crab legs for an appetizer. Gumbo was tasty, raw oysters were good and my cajun catfish po boy was very good. I came in with minimal expectations but was pleasently suprised.
Where to get good raw oysters in town?. When eating raw oysters you want to keep a few things in mind. Probably the most important is volume. Do they do enough volume to keep the oysters always coming in and going out the door, or do they keep them around for a while? At Fontaine's, this clearly isn't an issue. They do a tremendous business in oysters, and the price is right!
In addition to oysters, the do a solid version of the po-boy, as well as a good red beans and rice. The nightly beer specials are also an excellent deal.
Good food - mussels, oysters, crab legs, scampi, and key lime pie - all good. Good service and fun eve.
I usually meet a friend here for lunch and have enjoyed it everytime. I always get the 2 item fried platter and everything is hot and good. Also plenty of sweet tea.
Great, fresh seafood. Great atmosphere, doesn't get better than this!
Good food, loved the lobster bisque and fried scallop poboy. Oysters sampler was good. Service was so-so
First time trying this place was on my birthday 12/9 and I’m so happy I did. The food and service was amazing. Our waitress was Reggie and when I tell you she is top tier. She was very attentive and made very good recommendations when we couldn’t decide what we wanted. If haven’t visited this spot you should. You definitely won’t regret it. ❤️
Valet parking was quick and easy. We were seated right away at a booth. The food was hot and had plenty of flavor in it. The drinks weren't overpriced either! The service was good as always and it's a plus that they don't automatically add gratuity to the bill.
A very nice patio for outdoor dining in Virginia-Highland. Fontaine's Oyster House is a casual spot to grab a nice meal and cocktails. The patio is in the rear of the building but is decorated nicely with lots of beautiful plants. The oysters were fresh, and the food was good - we had a catfish basket, a grouper basket, and the shrimp and grits.
Two things per the New Orleans food snob in me: 1 - the gumbo is described as tomato based (hmmm...) so I went with the Lobster Bisque instead, and 2 - the shrimp & grits had tail-on shrimp (why?).
From the door man to the chefs to the cleaning staff to the waitress... Impeccable dining experience. Reggie went above and beyond to make my first experience in Atlanta absolutely magical. So attentive & loving, she reminds me of my own auntie! This spot is an absolute must if you're visiting Atlanta or are a resident. Unforgettable night and I'm so grateful Reggie took care of us. Will return every time
This one of my favorite places to eat at. It is a casual oyster bar that reminds me of some of the eateries in New Orleans.
I typically get the oyster sampler and blackened alfredo with salmon, and it is outstanding! The spinach and artichoke dip is also very good. They have a nice patio out back, and friendly wait staff.
The surrounding location alone is captivating in its own right which sets the tone for the atmosphere inside. Plenty of new things to try all within walking distance, but It is Atlanta, so the parking is first come first serve. The lighting at the bar and tables is just right and the heated patio is comfortable too. I love the food here. Oysters any way you like them and the bar is full of variety.
Most of the food couldn’t touch the table fast enough before we ate it up. The fried okra, the oysters, everything was splendid. I appreciated all the flavors. For the mussels, just put the bowl up to your mouth and drink the sauce because it is that delicious.
Have to give this place 5 stars. Great staff, great food, great menu. We came at 12P on a weekend right when they opened, and we’re treated with prompt service and fresh food. The raw oysters were great and high quality, as was the fried grouper. Hush puppies were some of the best I’ve had, felt like we were near the ocean!
Great restaurant oyster special on Tuesday is killer.
Our waitress Alex was also really good!
O... M... G...!!! Is all I can say about this Great food, great service, great atmosphere restaurant. I have been on the search for oysters that can compare to one popular restaurant in New Orleans, Louisiana. I tried the Oysters Sampler, and was very satisfied. I think the NOLA Oysters and the Crab & Bacon Oysters were my favorites of the three choices (Rockefeller Oysters were the third choice) . I must say they have THE BEST lobster Mac and cheese I have ever tasted. It is not just little sprinkles of lobster here and there. The fried okra is DELICIOUS, as if your Grandma cooked it, per our Waiter. He was RIGHT! There were several other items on the menu that I will need to return for in order to try. I brought back home for my husband and son the Cajun Chicken with red beans & rice and broccoli, and the Shrimp N Grits. They both smelled very good. And both of my guys were satisfied. My friend also ordered the Oysters Sampler. We agreed on our preferred oysters. She also had the Crab Cake as a Starter. She let me taste, and it seemed as if they already squeezed the lemon on there. That is preferred to be done on our own. In the meantime, the atmosphere was very welcoming as well. Our Waiter was Daniel B. He was the best. Friendly, welcoming, helpful, pleasant. A great person to have on your staff. Thanks for your service Daniel B. Thanks for your hospitality Fontaine's Oyster House. I'll be back!
