Open Door Cafe

FINALLY got in this place and was definitely not a disappointment. They have some amazing craft beers! I had both Sticky Buns and Vanilla Stout and my husband had Drafty Qilt and Kentucky Bourbon Ale and all 4 were so great. I drank my Sticky Bun and couldn't even drank half of my Vanilla Stout for the high gravity in both was much😁 I had for dinner a Wagu burger all the way and fries, and man was that great, never had wagu and will definitely have it again. Husband had orange roughy with rice and seasonal veg, and it was so tinder and perfectly cooked, the rice is AMAZING and you won't find bland veg there! Our waitress was new, started today, did not get her name, beautiful lady with spider tattoos, want to say thank you for taking care of us and answering our silly questions, altho I forgot to ask why the Yage was turned upside down over in the bar area,lol next time. Loved that the owner came to say hi and ask how things were. Very nice place to go, very nice owners and staff. They need help, so please go if you need a job, we should support our community and keep these rare gems in our county! Thank you for a great meal, can't wait to come back. God Bless.

This was the second worst "restaurant" that my family and I have ever been to. It is supposed to be a nice, relaxing, romantic, place to eat, in one of downtown Athens historic hotels. We came inside, and we were immediately pushed off to the side while another group was seated and served before us. The waitress was very rude. We were never given silverware, napkins, or plates. The waitress was more worried about others who were drinking. When we finally had our skimpy serving of an appetizer brought to us, our children still had not received their drinks, and still no napkins, silverware, or plates. We decided to pay for what we had, go to another, "much better" restaurant just up the street. The waitress again was very rude when I asked for our check. She took more than enough time to run my card, and when she returned, she smacked the check booklet on the table and said, HERE! As I went to sign, she got irritated and said, your signing the wrong copy. You need to sign mine! This was not a very good impression for this so called restaurant. This place is a bar, and caters to those customers. This could be a very nice upscale place to eat, but unfortunately they do not offer that here.

My family and I came to eat a few nights ago. I have never had such terrible service at an establishment! I am a very good tipper, usually regardless of the situation, but this is the first time that I did not leave a tip. Our server was blatantly rude to my husband and myself. The complete lack of urgency was astonishing. Yes, they were staffed appropriately, from what I could see, so I do not see why we were letting waiting and ignored for 10 minutes. I may have caught them on a bad night, but this night was the last night that we will ever be there. Do better.
