Me and my homie tried this spot for the first time. Our meal was delicious, and we plan to come back here again.

I have been ordering from Sunrise Rest for almost 20yrs. Not once have I ever had an upset stomach or any type of allergic reaction to their food. ***** I can describe the wonderful young woman's voice who takes my order & she is very thoughtful & always remembers just how I want my food. They are clean, super delicious, food is perfection. It's outstanding & tastes just perfect without adding anything else to it. I call & always say only 2pcs of duck sauce for our shrimp rolls & they're loaded with delicious shrimp's. It's an awesome Restaurant.

I miss my old go to Chinese restaurant. I moved out of Astoria during the pandemic to the west side of Manhattan. You’d think they’d have good Chinese out here. After trying nearly a dozen places there are none that compare to the Chicken & Broccoli, egg rolls or General Tso’s that Sunrise had. I’m appalled I can’t get good Chinese here. I had to circle back and at least let others know what a great spot they have in Astoria and not to let it be taken for granted like I did. I miss you Sunrise. I miss calling you and you immediately saying “Chicken Broccoli Mountain Dew” and after a quick confirm from me (sometimes small changes) it showing up at my door 10-15minutes later. Maybe after reading this I can pay all you did for me forward and some lucky soul will have read this and discovered that the sun truly does rise when it comes to good Chinese food in Astoria…at Sunrise.

Probably the best "fast food" Chinese spot around the area. The fried chicken isn't overcooked. Portions are larger than other spots. They also gave me a free soda with an order over $20 without me asking for it. I'm making this a staple the next time I'm in the mood for Chinese.

Folks, it is what it is, a neighborhood Chinese restaurant, does the staples well for what one should expect from this kind of place, it's inexpensive, and reliable. Our neighborhood goto for quick dinners when we don't feel like cooking, going out, or getting more expensive or complicated delivery. They know us well by now and we get great service. These guys are part of the community, in a way, they are friendly, kind, and very, very quick. They do a good job within a very limited slice of the overall food industry. The fact I'm even writing a review is an indicator of how much I think they deserve recognition. Reviewers take themselves waaay to seriously. Seriously people, chill. It's a high volume, low frills business. They have to keep it movin'. I know they are trying to get things the way you want it. If it's the very first time you're ordering from them, maybe don't get complicated with them, maybe don't go off menu, and have consider that they don't know you yet and might not understand what you're asking for. For example, Crispy Chicken one star reviewer, what exactly is crispy by your definition? Maybe you could explain yourself better. There are plenty of places in this neighborhood where an Astoria born person might not understand you and disappoint your expectations or just tell you "no" because they think you're being unreasonable. I mean, c'mon, this isn't a downtown restaurant with a Sommelier, where you're going to drop $300 on the check and tip another 80. It's a freakin neighborhood shop. Rate it against the other ones in this area, and it stands up well. It's not fair to trash them and kill their rating because they didn't get one thing right in an order that is not standard for them. Customers have some power too if they want this stuff handled better. Try being friendly, and patient, and don't go too far out of their established menu, until they know you better. I mean, c'mon man, what are we doing here man? Rate it against the same type of restaurant in the neighborhood, it's one of the best, if not the best. We've tried at least five others, and it isn't close.

Reasonably priced menu, quick preparation, friendly staff, good food, solid portions - what more could you want? I've only lived here a few weeks and I've been there 3 times. I love it. Just don't forget that they're cash only.

This is a take away and sit down place. They have a lunch special that seems well worth it, but i've never tried. The lo-mein is delish and comes in HUGE portions. If you live in the area, they deliver for free and it SUPER fast! If you order more than 10$ then you get a free can of drink.
