From the charcoal grilled octopus to the fresh Spanakopita this place oozes authentic Greek tradition in every bite. Every time I come to NYC it's one of 5 restaurants I MUST visit.
... It is with a heavy heart that I have to report that Opa Souvlaki has closed its doors for good. It recently changed owners hands and honestly after coming by 4 times I wasn't impressed but I am still absolutely gutted by hearing its closing. This place has been an institution for over 35 years and I simply have no words to describe the sense of loss. Whenever I travel around the world and I come back to New York it's one of the few places that I absolutely always would visit. Along With Uncle George's, this place will live on in our collective memory as a cornerstone of Greek food and great eateries.

Unique Mediterranean-themed restaurant with excellent Greek cuisine. Mediterranean platter will feed two!

Beautiful real Greek food at a great price. Every time I go I have a GYRO and Baklava. They fill up the GYRO with meat and if you want extra yogurt sauce there's no additional price. The Baklava was a nice portion which two can eat off. Price 13.75

This place has been around forever in fact I can't remember when it wasn't and there's a very good reason the food is so good I've been going there over 10 years excellent Greek food very friendly staff

Always been the best. Who cares about the "decor" ? Been eating there since the '80's . honesty and tradition is what matters

My family and I have been going here for many years. It is by far my favorite Greek restaurant in Astoria. I was sad when they closed but they are back and just as good as ever!
Welcome back to Opa Opa's!!

I like this place. Good people here and very friendly. The food is good and not pricey. Waitress Erini is the best.

My go to greek restaurant in Astoria. Ridiculously affordable the gyro, souvlaki, lemon potatoes are always spot on. I do a lot of take out but enjoy the garden seating when the weather is right and I have the time.

Good family-owned Greek place since 1969. Food is outstanding and good portions too! Staff is very friendly. The best seating is in the back where there are cave sculptures and hand-painted wall murals plus an outdoor seating area in good weather. Authentic Greek music as well. This has been a hidden gem in Astoria for years, absolutely worth a trip, but parking is difficult out front.

Best place in Astoria (and quite possibly in all of New York) for souvlaki. Always tender, always fresh, always marinated to perfection!
