We came here for an after wedding event. The food was delicious. Once we all got seated the manager was bringing out food on time and hot. It was so efficient and most importantly, so delicious. We were a mix of Pakistani and Bosnian families and the Afghani food was so delicious. I definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for halal food for a family event or gathering.
Not sure what they marinate the skewers of meat with, but the flavor of their meat and seafood never disappoint. A great place to share a meal with friends and family. It is always nice to be greeted by Sami who is excited to share his Afghan food and makes guests feel like family right away!
Food was great. We loved every dishes. But it was so odd they don’t provide water…… You have to purchase bottled water……
Very delicious food and excellent service. I ordered lamb shank uzbeki qabuli pulao . the others ordered mix grill chicken and other kebabs.. We were offered fernee the afghani dessert. Everything was Very responsibly priced. We will go back there again soon.
literally one of the most satisfying meals of my life. everything here was fantastic and so well priced. i can’t wait to bring my friends and family here to enjoy this heart warming food. great service too!!!
Lunched in their dining room. The decor is simple, using Afghan artifacts. The food is amazing, very tasty. My entree was the lamb kabobs, great choice, but my favorite was the dumplings ( I forgot the name) they are an appetizer that I felt I could have had more of
The tea was delicious, but they served it in a paper cup that took away from the experience of dining in.
The wait staff was slow, especially since we were the only customers at the time, but when he came around, he was great. Overall, I feel like it's probably very authentic, and I will definitely return. The food is very, very tasty. 5 stars.
This place was amazing. The food was very good, the atmosphere was nice and it is very well priced for the quality and quantity of food you get.
I loved this place! Just a few subways stops away and I was transported across the world. My first time trying Afghan food but there are some similarities to Uzbek food. Had a mixed kebab, eggplant and hummus and it was all delicious! The kebab was very tender and well seasoned. The restaurant itself is warm and inviting and the service was excellent.
Simply the best Afghan food in the entire tristate area. The highlight of Sami's is the Mantu dumplings. The dough wrap is super soft and thin, with lamb filling cooked to perfection, juicy and tender. Dumplings are decorated with yogurt and a hint of herbs including fried mint, served as a platter of six. I can eat these dumplings everyday as the main course and still want more.
The mixed kebab platter, is perfect for anyone curious to try a varieties of options. The tandoori chicken is mild but very tender, and the beef kebabs are cooked to perfection with a nice bed of fluffy, sour sweet Kaboli pulaw. Yum...
Finally for desert the Firnee is a must. Similar to rice pudding but much more fregnant with a subtle hint of cardamom and rose water. I take one extra home for the next day breakfast and eat it as slow as possible to last me the entire week. That's how good it is.
Sami's is definitely one of my first restaurant choices, except it's more than a restaurant, it smells, tastes and feels like home.
1st time having Afghani food and it didn't disappoint. We went for lunch and the entire group loved their dishes. Got the Afghani chicken thigh kebab and loved it. They also gave us a free salad and dessert which was an unexpected, nice surprise. Highly recommend!!
