Shanks Bar & Grill

I have to say that we were avoiding this place because of how small it is. We felt that it would be too crowded during the winter. I have later heard that several other people we know felt the same way. So we tried it out and it was not crowded. We were waited on immediately and drinks came quickly after. Carly our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and super friendly. The food was actually quite amazing! The Hawaiian chicken sandwich was huge! The poke bowl looked and tasted amazing! We were very satisfied! I definitely would recommend it. If you are worried about if it is too busy or cramped, call ahead and ask. Oh, and they also have a kid's menu.

My Mother, sister, and I were on our way home from a weekend trip to Sandusky when I was put in charge of finding a spot to stop for dinner. I jumped on the always faithful search engine, Google, to see what Ashland had to offer. There didn’t seem to be much going on in the way of food, being a Sunday evening many eateries were closed, but I happened upon Shanks Bar and Grill. While I had my reservations, especially when arriving on site and seeing it was stationed within a golf course, we we’re more than pleasantly surprised. Not only was the atmosphere (we ate out on the deck) relaxing and filled with easily content vibes, but the food was absolutely phenomenal! I got the Apple Gouda Sandwich which was perfectly juicy and piled high with all the fixings and was a delicious choice. Then the three of us polished off our dinner, we saved half of it to take home as we had so much, with a mouthwateringly delightful Blueberry Cheesecake. It was easily the best cheesecake I’ve eaten and had I not been so full I would have been sorely disappointed I was sharing it! Needless to say we were all quite pleased we had stopped and it was a lovely way to finish off our girls trip!

Food was garbage. I never say that, but it was just bad. The fish in the fish tacos tasted so fishy I almost gagged and I love fishy fish. We told the server after eating 2 tiny bites that we wanted to return it. She took it back but never removed it from our bill. I had a burger that was nothing to write home about. The lightly breaded shrimp was great tho so I'll give them that. Overall not very impressed. The patio view was also very nice.

Shank's was the perfect venue for our wedding rehearsal dinner. We chose our menu items ahead of time for our party of 30, and everything went very smoothly. Tyler was exceptional at communication and customer service. The food was delicious and the service was efficient and friendly. Big group or small, I recommend it!
