Black Bear Diner

Stumbled upon this place by accident on a road trip. Great food and dessert! The corned beef Rueben was to die for as was the banana cream pie. My husband enjoyed the meatloaf and chili. They are pet friendly and allowed our dog in the restaurant. Our server, Ari, also brought him water. They have a lovely grass area behind the restaurant for pets to run around. Great service. Ari was super friendly and helpful. Will definitely have to stop back on the way home and try another dessert. They also had a cute little shop and I wanted to buy everything. Great stop if you’re on a road trip passing by.

Had dinner. I had the chicken pot pie and baked potato, loaded. I thought the pie was Excellent. Nice fluffy top and the ingredients were excellent and the right amount of chicken. The baked potato was good size and the bacon was excellent. My wife had the fish and chips. He said the fish was great, and she got Sweet potato fries and coleslaw. Sonshyne was our waitress and did a good job checking in with us frequently.

Recently tried Black Bear Diner again and was impressed by this location. Staff was excellent, friendly, quick. Food was cooked well. While prices are a tad more expensive compared to other restaurants in the area. But portions are on the large side and generous. You wob't leave hungry. Coffee is good and served steaming hot like we like it. Location is clean except for obvious dust around TV, AC inlets and plastic roofing decor over kitchen front.

This place was so busy, but with the great staff you wouldn't even know. Food came out quick, portions were hefty, I especially loved the little flair they added to the dishes to make them unique. Everything was delicious; I really enjoyed the gravy for the chicken fired steak and eggs. The Huckleberry Lemonade was to die for. I am going to start making these I loved it so much. A must stop on the grapevine, don't waste your time with the fast food around this area.

Excellent food at great prices. I've always driven past these chain locations. This particular time however, I decided to give them a try. I called ahead to see if they served chicken fried steak. Once confirmed I walked in. The place was was clean and welcoming. The staff was polite and friendly. The food was absolutely wonderful. Great flavor and timing. Everything was hot, the salad was hand cut, the white gravy was delicious. Simply a perfect example of a country dinner at your grandmother's home.

Very friendly, courteous,helpful staff . Restaurant was very clean, especially for a Saturday night while taking care of what appeared to be most of the Fire department. Portions were more than generous. The whole family was wishing they had left room for dessert. I was also so impressed with the Black Bear hot sauces we bought a couple bottles to take home. The only thing keeping me from 5stars was the temperature of my biscuits and gravy and my son's eggs. I know it was dinner time and we ate breakfast but if your going to offer it all day put the same effort into it all day. I had the pleasure of working a few years in a similar establishment so there was never a chance of sending it back to the kitchen on a Saturday night. It wasn't so cold I was willing to take that gamble. The huckleberry shake was also amazing. If I ever forget the sweltering heat outside again and have to let the car cool down I would absolutely go back and try one of the many more meal time appropriate options they offer. After stopping there I am definitely a bit more upset the establishment in Simi Valley is already closed.
