Golden Buddha

So delicious!! 💛 I've been eating here on almost every special occasion since I was a kid. ...Of course they were in a much larger location then... It's so sad that they had to move. They are still just as good as they were before though. Although, I have to admit, they have made their portions smaller.

Some of you may remember Little Shangai in Santa Cruz. By far the best Chinese food in Santa Cruz. My wife and I were were extremely sad to see them go. Golden Buddha has somewhat filled that void. I was immediately captured by the tranquil environment. Their welcoming party is this Beautiful fish that poses and follows the camera. We kept our order simple, The "Mama Mao's Orange Chicken". We were not disappointed. The chicken was cooked to our liking and in fact savory and of good quality. Sweet, Tangy, spicy and juicy. It did in fact have an enjoyable home taste to it. The fried rice although simple in concept, cooked just right. The slight burnt toast that gives it that unique taste made it hard to stop eating. We were surprised with a much appreciated gift from Mama Mao, a simple desert. A watermelon boat topped with my wife's favorite exotic fruit, Lychees. If you love food, and want to delight your self in another culture's taste, then this is a promising start. if you are and experienced foodie, then this restaurant will provide a filling experience. We are loyal customers, specially when good service and good product is provided. Enjoy!!

Awful Fast delivery and the deliver driver was nice and polite as well as happy to be tipped but the food is something else. Awful freezer burnt fried shrimp. i have no idea what they were. Looked like they were breaded and frozen for a long time. Greasy flavorless chow mein. Sweet and sour pork had no flavor. Overall everything tasted like it came out of freezer and had no freshness besides the Mushu which was missing stuff. Peking is much better on 41st and you get more for your money. Seeing this placed moved recently they won't last with what is being served. Avoid this place if looking for Chinese. Live and learn. Nature of eating out.

Its a very cute, hole-in-the-wall restraunt in Aptos. Their style of food is Szechwan Chinese, not Americanised Chinese food. I really enjoy there vegetable chow mein, also the Mama Moas Orange chicken and crunchy pork wontons are amazing! If you haven't been there I would give it a chance, you might just grow found of it.
