Exquisite food, warm atmosphere, knowledgeable servers, owner run and operated and, simply, the best dinner and bistro in Southeastern Michigan.
What an enjoyable experience! Our waiter Spencer was great & knew the best pairings! The owner was so welcoming! Amazing food - ambience too! New favorite!
The attention to details here will impress you. We sat at the bar and ordered dinner, and looked on as the bartender—in between orders— inspected each washed/dried wine glass under white halogen light. The kitchen has that same attention to details. Things like sauces and reductions really stand out. We ordered from the 3 course Restaurant Week menu, the short ribs and the Tunisian Pork tenderloin for main courses; this was preceded by lovely Ceasar salads that featured a bit of house pesto, and tasty grits and shrimp appetizer. The flights of red wine were carefully paired with each course, especially accentuating the plated proteins. And to top it off, my bread pudding was quite delectable. Feel free to “like” if this was helpful, and be sure to check out the pics I took of my wonderful dining experience at Logan Restaurant this evening.
All the dishes we tried at the Logan were packed with flavor and well prepared and presented. The only drawback I would say is the price per quantity of food in the appetizers and salads. Take the duck fritter for example, $6 seemed very reasonable but when there was only ONE on the dish we were blown away. It was barely enough for one and we shared it. I suppose if we were made aware of this at first maybe it wouldnt have been such a shock but even then why just one. It even looks tacky. Overall the service was decent and the food was good though.
The service was delightful. Kevin, one of the owners and sommelier took time to chat and make side fabulous suggestions. A wonderful dinner out.
Every aspect of Logan is magnificent. It has been said that you can tell the quality of a restaurant by looking no further than their coffee and bread. The drip coffee was rich and wonderfully balanced and the Parmesan scones were masterfully done. The mains were great with my wife getting the shrimp and grits and I had the sauteed trout. Both were perfectly prepared, with unique and well balanced flavor profiles. The service was also professional and well informed, which is somewhat of a rarity in Ann Arbor. It was a truly great overall experience.
Small, intimate restaurant. Not too noisy, excellent service and amazing food. Definitely pricey, but worth it for a special occasion!
We've been going to Logan for years, since they first opened.
The food is consistently excellent, as are the cocktails and the wine.
Sometimes they've had waiters that weren't the greatest, but these didn't stay very long. The regular, long-time staff is excellent. They know our names, and even know our favorite wines.
I'm surprised at the reviews complaining about portion size, and assume these folks must be used to chains like Red Lobster where they plop a giant trough of vittles on the table. -- Logan is about quality, not quantity, and the portions are just right.
The best things on the menu are the yummy cocktails, the avocado/crab appetizer, the fennel salad and the Thai scallops. Their best desserts are warm cookies and milk and this awesome pear pastry served warm and topped with ice cream.
We have a reservation for next month. Can't wait :-)
Went to Logan's for the first time yesterday evening and had an exceptional experience. With the petite plate options you can comfortably afford getting 6+ different dishes and they are all equally delicious and still impressively sized. Adding it to our list of restaurants that we will frequent!
