Quaint place but awesome food. Didn't feel rushed. Chips and salsa are the BOMB. Prices are reasonable. Well worth the trip downtown.

Excellent food. The fish tacos were amazing, to die for. Full of fresh, generous, dark green, cilantro, etc. Amazing secret sauce and lovely nice hot fish in a perfectly battered crust. Yum! Service, they were a little short staffed. Atmosphere, three stars. They do not serve wine and there were not any booths to comfortably sit in, all the tables and chairs were too close to each other.

We rolled in for late lunch today. We had not been here and hope it would good. Our experience was excellent ! The place was clean and cool looking with exposed rock and a wood floor. Our waitress was nice and quick with fresh chips and homemade salsa. The food was the stand out. The fish tacos are AMAZING. My wife had the carnitas quesadilla which was also very good. We will absolutely be back soon. Until then I will dream of the tacos ❤️

Cascadel Restaurant offers a great chile relleno, great salsa, and very unique tortilla chips. Oh, if you can take some heat, order taco zampiro! We were not looking for dinner when we saw the Taco Tuesday sign shortly before 4pm. So, we ordered some Tuesday tacos, a chile relleno, and this mysterious "taco zampiro” that I have never heard of. I cannot say the Tuesday tacos are any special - certainly worth the $2 they charge nonetheless. Their chile relleno, however, is truly special. Slightly less cheesy than I am used to, it is flavored with some kind of fermented chili paste that I don't find in chile relleno elsewhere, and which I particularly like. (Maybe this is because it reminds me of a similar taste from my hometown. But I bet many people will like the distinct taste.) Taco zampiro also stood out, hotter than most tacos but very tender and smooth. (OK, we like hot food. No surprise here.) Their horchata is also good. Even though I cannot taste any difference, it comes in toquilla mugs:-) The server was very nice, patiently answering our curious questions. One particular curiosity is their tortilla chips, less than 1mm (1/32”) thick, complimented by their green salsa, which also has a unique flavor that I particularly like and don’t find elsewhere. She even brought up contact card of their wholesale supplier. (Not that we will buy chips wholesale any time soon.) From Main Street, Cascadel does not look special, even a little understated among Frogtown establishments. Inside is well lit with simple but elegant designs. Seating is comfortable. (They even has a downstairs dining area which is unusual for a small-town joint. I didn't look into it.) A sign encourages you to pay cash which I happily did. (A 4% surcharge will be added for credit card payments. This is very understandable for a small business like this.)

Being from Arizona we have a lot of good Mexican restaurants. So naturally I compare other restaurants accordingly. This place is conveniently located in the middle of town. We were lucky to snag parking spots on the street out front. The restaurant has a nice warm old building feel. I enjoyed the dining experience. Noise is an issue for me as I have bad hearing and background noise makes it impossible for me to carry on a conversation. This old place did NOT have that issue making my personal experience very good. The service also was outstanding. Our server greeted us and promptly got us drinks and took our orders. She also checked on us regularly with the most pleasant bubbly personality. She's a keeper. The food was really good but different than what I am used to in Arizona. It's always risky to order a Chile relleno from a new place. This one was served with a covering of some type of mole type sauce and had I believe mozzarella cheese. Very different but tasty. The taco I ordered withal pastor meat. Again, different but tasty. It had an Hawaiian flare with a bit of pineapple in it. The wife ordered a sope with Chile Verde. That was more traditional and the meat was tender and full of flavor. It was perfect for the wife but I would have liked a bit more heat to it. We finished off the meal with a churro sundae. Just a churro with ice cream, no syrups. All in all we enjoyed our meal and experience and would definitely dine here again

Fish tacos were delicious. We also ordered taco salad, a jalapeño burger with Wagyu beef and fries, and cheese quesadillas for the kids. Good food and excellent service.

Great food!! Salsa is roasted and chips are freshly made. Chile Verde was nicely seasoned and not fatty at all. Loved the Quesabirria, tender meat and sauce for dipping was flavorful (no cinnamon which I appreciate). Server was hustling!! Full house on Thursday night. Really reasonable prices for this economy. 2 dinners, 4 drinks, chips & salsa, $54
