Solid American fare of burgers, fries and shakes with other things like onion rings. Done as you wait and has been in the same spot for ages. They do not mess with the recipe and that is something that you can find in one of the comfort foods you most count on. Lots of photos of present and bygone visitors and fans. Parking is no problem and it is pretty busy often so go earlier. Love the shakes.
A quaint kind of old timey establishment with a warm atmosphere and great fast food. Not the place for polished advertisements or shiny new promos. This is a personal favorite of mine growing up in anchorage.
This review is for Arctic Roadrunner on Old Seward Highway. NOT the Arctic Roadrunner on Arctic Blvd. I have never had a bad burger at the Old Seward Highway location and I have never had a good burger at the Arctic Blvd location. I have no idea what that is but the Arctic Blvd location is so bad it is one of the reasons I only give 4 stars. So definitely make sure you go to the Old Seward Highway location. The burgers are incredible. Some of the best in town. Fresh cooked with fresh ingredients and imaginative toppings. My personal favorite is the Kenai. Their homemade onion rings are just so-so as it is hit-or-miss if the person making them that day lets them rest long enough to prevent the coating from coming off during frying. Too often I've received a glob of fatty onions that was impossible to eat. So I usually stick with their frozen O-rings. But I always get a chocolate shake which as also some of the best in town.
Solid burger place with 51 years of experience. Don't expect fancy anything, but enjoy everything. The little creek out side brings in different water foul to eat your table scraps but adds a peaceful stop to your day. Bring your cash or arm card as they only accept cash.
Good burgers. Nice people.. Old school good burgers done right. Walk up counter to order. Condiment bar with good selection. Love their peppers. Regular Fountain soda choices.
Old anchorgage photos and family names abound on the walls.
If you want trendy food with ingredients you can't pronounce then this isn't it. If you want a good lunch at a fair price then you have found it at this clean very American style restaurant.
Wipe off tables!. I had the Denali burger. Hand patted, but still not enough meat for the bun. They should consider increasing the patty diameter to cover the whole bun. Cole slaw was sweet and a bit too "wet" for me. Chili was on the soupy side, I prefer mine thicker. Nice outdoor seating area by a creek but they should take the time to occasionaly wipe off the tables. My table was sticky and gross. All in all not bad in comparison to other Alaskan burgers but would be average in Lower 48.
Old fashion burgers. This is it, the burger you had as a kid (if you grew up in the 50's). Fat & juicy, single, double or triple. Nothing fancy, just down home burgers, made with quality meat (no added trans fat). I like the condiment bar and the hot peppers (yum).
Really good food, great atmosphere. We have been to the Arctic Roadrunner many, many times, and had a great experience every time. We love the atmosphere - very cosy and log-cabiny - and interesting pictures of and stories about regular customers all over the walls. The food is good too. Real onions in the onion rings, delicious crispy fries, all their burgers and sandwiches are great, and the milkshakes are awesome! I've seen it said here before, but I'll say it again - You can't go wrong at Arctic Roadrunner!
Bottom line, is quality food, caring owner, and they have been around the block for many years. So while I notice there are some nay-sayers commenting in general they are wrong at the bigger picture. You just aren't going to go wrong at the RoadRunner.
Great burgers that require a hunch to eat due to the juices. Love the hot pickle slices. Sure, carpet could use replacing but still a good place with very good burgers.
