10/10! I’ve been going here for years, have sat down with family and friends multiple times & it’s great service every time! They’re drink menu is delicious and has lots of variety, they have new specials every time I go and the entrees speak for themselves (Just look at the photos) The owner Estella, the servers & even the main chef say hi to me every time making me feel very welcome. Great place to take your significant other or your entire household :) all dishes and drinks are very presentable and photogenic

This quaint little gem in downtown Algonquin is the coziest, friendliest little place! Took my friend here to celebrate her 40th birthday. It was perfect! The food is prepared fresh from scratch, and it is worth.the wait! Our waiter was extremely attentive, courteous and offered suggestions since it was our first time there. This is the type of place where you can forget the outside world, relax in the company of friends and enjoy a phenomenal meal. The owner came out to greet us and you could tell she was humble, yet proud of her husband, an experienced chef of 27 years. It is very obvious how much love and passion goes into running this place. Highly recommend it!!!

Amazing!! This little gem appears to be a very unassuming little restaurant, but wow!! What it hides behind it's glass storefront doors is exceptional. The Black Bear Bistro offers a wide variety of options that include many out of the ordinary options (ex: kangaroo) the food was beyond delicious & cooked to perfection!! The flavors were incredible, the most tender meats, perfectly roasted veggies & a wide variety of options to quench your thirst!! Staff was amazing as well. Our server, Henry, was excellent! Very attentive & knowledgeable about the menu & offered wine options when asked. One of the owners came around & asked how everything was, took the time to tell us a little about their restaurants origins, her fabulous chef husband & su chef son. You can tell they take great pride in everything they do & it shows! The chef clearly preforms magic on the cooktop, the food was as delicious as it was beautiful! I loved every morsel I ate & I'll definitely be going back again! I highly recommend this gem!! Amazing food & great atmosphere!!

This is an incredible gem of a restaurant. I met a girlfriend who I haven't seen in two years, we were looking for a place that was quiet. It is small but mighty! It probably has 10 tables in total. We both had great service, and our meals were out of this world! I had the salmon stuffed pablano, she had the blackened shrimp with crusted ahi tuna and tortilla crusted salmon 😋. The flavors were unique and so good, plating was beautiful. We then had the lightest, most delicious cheesecake. Estela the owner and Henry were the most attentive and wonderful people. Estela was most gracious. I highly recommend this place for a great night out!!!

So good! Flavor combinations I would not have expected, intimate atmosphere, very cute interior, friendly staff, and the owners (one of which is the head chef) checked in on every table. Definitely recommend!

Delicious fresh and adventurous eats! The vegetables such as the broccoli and brussel sprouts are crisp and have tons of flavor. You can definitely tell the difference in the quality of the ingredients! I ordered the cast iron seared maple leaf duck breast with potato and caramelized onion fritters and it was absolutely delicious. The duck was cooked to perfection and was amazing and the fritters were a perfect mix of the sweet of the caramelized onions and the savory of the potato. If you are in the mood to try something that is the perfect mix of adventurous and familiar foods and to try something that will leave you satisfied eat here!

Quaint restaurant in the heart of the newly renovated downtown. Let's start with I called 30 minutes before our requested reservation time on a Saturday night and they worked us in. We arrived and every table was taken except the one they had reserved for us. We were quickly seated by the chef's wife and she gave us a little background of her husband's 25 years of cooking experience. Henry was our server and he was right on the money watching our glasses needing refills as well as taking our cues when each course was completed. The menu had something for everyone including those that are adventurous (like bison and kangaroo) and those that prefer a little less exotic. We chose the grilled calamari appetizer and a cup of mushroom soup for our first course. They were both just "wow!". The calamari was bringing the heat the closer to the middle of the dish you got so be aware there's a kick. I had the baked trout and the hubs ate the lobster and shrimp stuffed poblano pepper. Both just delish! Then we had the bread pudding for dessert and they made it with a scoop of homemade vanilla ice cream with whipped cream which is not how they had it on the menu but were happy to oblige us when we asked. They even had parking outside with charging stations for EVs. I highly recommend this restaurant and this is a new fave of ours.

We FINALLY made it to this gem in downtown Algonquin & SO glad we did! We got a cute table outside on a beautiful night. Service by Lilly was warm & friendly. My main course was so beautiful but tasted even better than it looked! A great combination of tastes combine with the cedar plank salmon on their main menu. Presentation & delicious variety=WIN!
