Review Spirits Food And Friends - Alexandria

We were in town for work and have visited multiple times. That speaks to how good the food is. Monster sized burgers. The deviled eggs are to die for. I enjoyed the spicy pasta. There beer selection was somewhat limited.

The food was delicious and the waitress was attentive. The only improvement I can think of would be if they could turn the music down just a little so that people could Converse more easily at the table.

You must go to Spirits! This restaurant is amazing, our waiter Zoltan was knowledgeable of pairing wines with food and the drink menu. Our food was absolutely amazing! We had devil eggs and crawfish beignets (not pictured). My family ate them so fast, I could not get a picture. 😂 I had the shrimp and grits which was flavored to perfection. My husband had the surf and turf which he said was perfectly cooked! The children had the (kids hamburger and chicken tenders). Well, at the end of the night we could not decide on which of the three desserts we wanted, so we picked ALL three! They did not disappoint! We tip our hats to the chefs for perfect dishes throughout the night! We are a military family and have traveled around the world. This restaurant is certainly top of the list for best atmosphere, wait staff and food! Thank you for the experience!

This was my second visit to the location my first being a basketball ceremony. This was a dining experience like no other. We celebrated my daughter's 13th birthday and I tell you our service was on point "Zee" was our server who never let our water glasses empty and who helped make the night awesome! A new restaurant to add to our list!

What a great spot! Stopped into town for a work trip and came here twice in 2 days. I followed the reviews and ordered the crawfish beignets and they were on point. I normally don't like fried food but they were awesome! Also ordered the red snapper which was cooked perfectly. The second day I had the fried green beans...a little trick if you don't like ranch, order the beignet sauce with it! Amazing! Then the boss burger was huge and fantastic. The service was great, fast and friendly!

Great atmosphere. Live music. Large drink selection. My all time favorite is the half spinach and half pasta salad with grilled chicken. I usually get that for lunch. The fried green beans, sushi poke and deviled eggs are so good! Also, the reuben...mmmm. For dinner my faves are Tracey's chicken, sweet potato chicken and judges choice pasta. My newest favorite is the black + white tuna - oh my gosh so freaking good!

Incredible food, atmosphere, and service! This was my first time, but I'll certainly be back. Loved paying by phone too ;) Update: It's still great, as of 4/8/2022

I remember when spirits first opened & I loved their spinach dip. I went here with a large group over the weekend and our server, Mrs Jackie took GREAT care of all 18 of us while waiting three other large groups. Service did move a little slower, but there was live music and a great deal of people in the restaurant, so it was expected. The drinks and food tasted as well as they were presented. For seafood however, I would recommend letting them know if you desire it cooked at a different wellness, as this isn’t often thought of. I see why they’ve lasted throughout the years, I’ll make sure I return the next time I’m in town!

Several weeks ago we were in Spirits for Grilled Chicken Salad ..1/2 and 1/2 , extra seeds! We were served subpar “Sams type chicken” ( the kind that had the brushed on grill marks, the texture much like what I would think rubber would be like )! Will not go into details, however we left a handwritten note for Lee with our cell number. We expressed our desire for him to bring back the original Spirits chicken! Never heard from anyone with Spirits! Keep in mind we have been loyal to Spirits since Gary had it in the tiny little corner store...wayyy back! We gave it other try Wed. evening (3/14/18). How can the Judges Choice possibly be messed up ....it’s a staple that is always enjoyable! WRONG....my serving ( half the size it use to be ) for $16 and this no longer includes a side salad!!! �. Wish I had taken a picture! The old Judge use to be served with a oil/wine type base, a sauce! The new dish is dry pasta with 3 or 4 pan seared veggies in the mix and maybe 5 very small shrimp! So Tasteless, even after I asked for my order to be spicy! I didn’t complain to the waiter ( Robert ,I think)...I simply asked for a serving of sensation salad dressing , plus salt and pepper ( none on the table) ...I attempted to fix the dish so that I could eat the $16 entree! I am not a picky food critic ....I simply don’t understand why Spirits would risk losing long time customers time and time again? The menu’s traditional/ area favorite items were NOT broken ...why change them? I understand to keep a fresh approach you need to revise your menu at times and cater to the health crowd .....but not every one wants to do bland, unappealing food! I would urge ANYONE at Spirits to rethink the tried and true dishes ....bring them back or I am afraid the reviews will continue to be bad and your business will suffer! This will be the second time our family has reviewed and nicely tried to say .....IT WASNT BROKEN!!! Jerry & Michelle

Good food, good atmosphere, and good music (live music with The Flip Flop Man). I’ve eaten here several times and their food is consistently tasty; perhaps the best salads and salad options in town. I also give two thumbs up on their burgers. Chicken salad wrap is yummy, as well. I loved having live music available, and The Flip Flop Man is my favorite regional musician.

Had lunch here yesterday, on the advice of Lamar White Jr., and I must say I haven't eaten this much in a long time We had crawfish beignets (wow) and took some home for later. Also, a most excellent Reuben sandwich, which was divine but could have been heavenly if only a pickle spear was included on the plate. A shrimp po-boy and a chicken salad wrap were also very good. Highly recommended!

I went last night for the first time and I had a fantastic experience! I tried the superfruit sangria, mezcal mule, Mediterranean penne pasta, and strawberry shortcake! The decor was intriguing! I loved the exposed brick! The restaurant filled up around 6:30. The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was lively and welcoming! The live jazz music was the cherry on top! Can't wait to go again!!!

The staff was great, I did not catch the waitress name but she was on point.The food came out during a full, line at the door Friday lunch rush on time and still hot and no problem with what we ordered. We even had someone join us late and their order came out with ours. We enjoyed everything and will be back. Thank ya'll for everything.

After reading many of these reviews, I have to wonder if all the waitress and cook staff involved in the poor comments from your patrons were fired like the hostess was tonight for a "bad review". After getting hurt on the job last night and being asked several times if she wanted to go home, she refused so she could help a new hire through the rush. Only then did she leave and drive home in horrible pain. Still in pain today, she showed up to work her shift so no other employees would get put out only to get fired. No, I won't ever step foot back in your establishment and will recommend others eat anywhere in Alexandria but there.

Changed the menu and no longer have our favorites and what they did keep didnt taste the same and we left over half of our food untouched, was once our favorite place in Alexandria, we won’t go back😩

Great food and atmosphere! I had the create your own salad and my husband had the Reuben. Both were wonderful, your homemade blue cheese dressing is to die for (I’m a blue cheese dressing fiend, so trust me!). We’ll definitely be back if we pass through Alexandria! Our waitress was also great. :)

Awesome dinner and atmosphere .....Spirits was open on a MONDAY💕 makes great lemon drop martinis ❗️Highly recommend the deviled eggs, yellow fin grilled tuna with rice pilaf and the blackened red snapper with cheese grits

Food was horrible, I got the Ruben sandwich and it was bland, not enough sauerkraut, not enough dressing and the bread was grilled too hard almost burnt. My husband got a burger and the meat was thick and dry and the patty was small. I know we won't be back.

My husband and I have been several times and have never been disappointed! We had friends visiting from out of state and we suggested Spirits and they also loved it! The food is delicious and the drinks are awesome!! If you’re lucky enough to come on a night with live music it just adds to the fun experience and atmosphere! We can’t wait to try items from the new menu!

It appears the fried oysters are cut up and not whole in the oyster platter and poboys we had for lunch on Tuesday. Mostly breading and not much oyster there.

Still has that neighborhood feel... Great new menu always evolving ... Cool tunes and a happy Staff...
