Kyoto Japanese Restaurant

The sushi here was a bit underwhelming. I'm used to getting larger rolls and more for the price. I'd ordered a flamingo roll and a salmon nigiri roll. No miso soup came with the order, had to be ordered separately. Service was nice and the place is nicely setup. Overall it was about $30 without tip.

Americanized Seafood I really wanted to like this place but I simply can't recommend what is basically Americanized seafood flavors in the shape of a sushi roll. There are no authentic flavors or ingredients. If I wanted crab cakes (which I do like) I'd go to a place that serves that. I like Japanese food and this place doesn't do that. I ordered the specialty "tiger roll" and it tastes basically disgusting. There is some kind of Americanized cream seafood sauce on top and the roll just falls apart. It's gross. I did order a basic tuna roll and which was avocado and tuna and that was fine, but it wasn't great. Super disappointed. I thought this would be a step up from Fresh's sushi bar, but it's not, it's a step down at a higher price. I took a date here and it was really embarrassing.

Got a large portion of food, which was delicious and ready for pick-up in a timely manner. And the owner, I'm assuming, was so kind. I came into get takeout when that unexpectedly heavy snow storm came through, he genuinely seemed concerned for my well-being traveling on the roads and appreciative of my business. Definitely going to be ordering from here again.

(Been to Japan and frequent a restaurant of a friend who owns a Japanese establishment) We had the chicken teriyaki dinner box and the Tonkotsu Ramen with one green tea. Total was around $60 with tip. Service was strange. The restaurant was not busy for multiple mess ups (7PM on a Thursday) Salad had little to any dressing. Ramen was mediocre. Dinner box came with a piece of bad tuna nigiri, wife had to spit it out. Will not be coming back. @ the reply: Must have been the "B" team working that night.
