We’ve found this local place to be more enjoyable earlier in the week and away from weekend evenings. The food offerings are imaginative and offer various choices. We enjoyed kale salad with salmon, roast chicken and pork chop. Starters and sides offer some twists like an Oyster Pastrami!
Del Ray delightful! An earl.... Del Ray delightful!
An early seating on a pleasant Thursday evening. Outside tables were full but plenty if seats inside.
Service was excellent tonight as was the Lost Rhino Cask ale IPA.
Started with a Ceasar Salad which was fresh with a very nice dressing. The fried chicken with greed smashed potatoes and gravy was hot, tender, and very tasty - a bit more spice than I expected but still very good.
I will be back to try another southern style meal!!!!
Every bite was delicious. The rockfish I had tonight was one of the most succulent seafood dishes I've ever had. And the beet salad was complicated, delectable.
Favorite NOVA restaurant. Spending a lot of time hunting for good places to eat in Norfolk and Richmond has spoiled me a little bit. Since moving up to Alexandria two years ago, we've been looking for a place to tag as our favorite place. Been here plenty of times and never had a bad meal or bad service.
Terrific!. Wonderful food, the staff friendly and attentive.
The PEI Mussels are perfect. . The Tuna Tartare just right. The scallops perfectly done.
In the back, The Majestic Lounge is a great place to kick back and relax after a great dinner, or to hang out for late nite drinks.
Attentive and care service, wonderful food- that's what made a lovely diner for three us. BLT Mac and Cheese = marvelous
Best food in the DC area. The reasonably priced meals here are far more flavorful, creative, and satisfying than the overpriced, pretentious meals downtown. I bring every out-of-towner here and they're always impressed. Even the simplest things like the grilled corn are worth recommending.
We stopped here for a late Sunday brunch. The weather was perfect, so there was a line waiting to sit outside. We settled for a table by the window... Great for people watching in this pedestrian friendly neighborhood. My French toast was extra thick cut, and needed to be carved before eating. Nevertheless it was tasty, and the sausage links that came with were good, with a mild flavor. The "hashbrowns" were actually home fries, and were also enjoyable. My friend raved about his hamburger, saying it was the best place in the area to get a good burger. The atmosphere is neighborhood cafe, the wait staff all younger, attired in black, and competent enough. Our meal was paced slow enough to allow for ample conversation time, which is what brunch time dining is all about. I will say that the inside noise level is rather high. Prices are fair. All in all a nice place to enjoy a leisurely meal.
Interesting and dependable. I live in Del Ray and visit Evening Star regularly. The food is always very good and the kitchen is willing to serve sauce on the side, cook meat to order, and greet customers with a smile. Great place to unwind!
Pretty darn good. Had a late appointment sown the street and was enticed by the sparkly lights. I was torn between the pork loin and the veal with peas and handmade pasta. Server reccomended the veal which was < expensive. So, so good. The wine and spices in the sauce were very robust without being overpowering. Will come again.
